Reading up on it, I don't think this is going to be a factor for me. I appreciate the info, though.

I bought mine awhile back from REI also. it was on sale like how they are now. I waited until the REI 20% coupon came out and saved a lot. Very happy with my tent. Although its just the Ayer 2.

I’ve had my Kukenam Sky for about three years now. My rain fly leaked when I was testing it out at home before it’s first trip . I contacted Tepui and they shipped me a new fly for it. I ended up seam sealing the original fly and it hasn’t leaked since. So now I have a spare fly for it also.
Fits me, the wife, and six year old without any issues.

Unfortunately I'm no longer selling Tepui stuff. There are quite a few good resellers of Tepui tents out there, as well as REI. Even though I don't have any skin in the game, Tepui would still be my first choice for a tent.

    Thanks for the compliment.

I think you’re gonna like it. The bed rack I’m using is set up at around what some would say is mid-height. When deployed, it clears the bikes sitting on a Yakima Dr. Tray bike rack (which allows the tailgate to fully open to get access at the rear portion of the bed, as seen in the second to the last picture). I’m about 5’7” tall and can stand underneath that section of the rtt when it’s opened, but I’m ducking, just in case. I’m definitely not gonna be doing jumping jacks under that, but it works for me.

It’s also doubling as a kind of awning, but space is limited when the bike rack is on the hitch and the tailgate is opened. Opening and closing the rtt is way easier for me, too, but that could be just with the kind of tent I’m using.

    Thanks for the compliment.

I agree, it is kinda weird to look at when the rtt is stowed away and there’s that big negative space on the front cover panel between the cab and the bed rack (especially the side shots). I just ignore those thoughts when they come to mind and just think about the functionality I have with that setup to try and make my mind cringe less... Lol.

Hopefully, it won’t look so weird if I get the bigger wheels/tires setup and a lift. In the bigger picture, I hope it helps to add some spice and variety to all the different Tacoma builds out there. ...or, truck builds in general. =)

@BattlecryTaco - Which Yakima hitch mount do you have? I like that you can drop the tailgate with bike on rack. Mine is not so nice.

Son of a @#$_&. There goes all those arguments from people saying a RTT is not something to worry about getting stolen. Guess I'll order those security bits after all

Considering their popularity, 3 in 2 years is pretty great. I think as many people get their tailgate swiped in a week.

While that's not bad, it only takes 1 to get me worried about it.

On an unrelated note, has anyone found or come up with a different way to mount a tepui tent to your rack? I'm really not a fan of the method they use on these tents. For example, the iKampers mounting system is much better to me with the single Allen bolt that gets tightened down to clamp the sides together. Has anyone modded a tepui or smittybilt tent with a better mounting system?

My C4 rack has slots in the cross bars. I put the mounting bolts through those slots then tightened down. But it was such a pain to maneuver the bolts into the slots, I reverted back to the wrap around mount style they come with. Put it through the ringer a few times in Moab and other areas and it hasn't moved an inch.
