I don't know about Roofnest, but on a lot of the cheap no name tents that are showing up everywhere I have seen a lot of problems specifically with the rivets pulling out through plastic or thin aluminum.

the rivets, the fabric felt like an old shirt, and I had a leak the first night - and roofnest didnt have any solutions. I do admit it was a nice tent, but those little issues got to me.

I went back to FSR, and havent looked back. I can even get you 10% off of one if youre interested in changing out. Ive had my Automatic 49" for just about a year and wouldnt change it for anything (except maybe a GFC, but I dont have $7k+ to spend right now)

Emailed Roofnest, they responded immediately with detailed instructions. I can’t say I’m thrill about the idea of cutting the insulation layer though5A676332-C603-4A41-8A32-C5D3588B9631.jpg6915F22C-4B81-48E5-855A-1EF4A1496602.jpg

Yikes, yea that sounds like a pretty bad experience. For something so expensive it shouldn't have those issues. Thanks for the 10% offer but I've been pretty dang happy with my tepui so far. We'll see how it does in the rain.

2nd time using the RTT, 1st time with the annex. Spent 2 nights out in the Shawnee NF in IL. Dead quiet other than a screaming fox the first night.

Well I just pulled the trigger on an Ironman RTT with Annex. It was a great price and if you use the code Welcome10 it gives you another 10% off, plus they have free shipping. So I got a RTT, Annex and Fan/LED Light delivered for $930.

I would just drill the rivets out and where the drill bit pops through the insulation, install the replacement screws there.

Today's project. Pulled the rack and put a wrap on it to hopefully cut down on some of the heat that is absorbed when it's closed up.

Anyone notice that Tepui tent prices increased by a few hundred dollars?

Damnnn, you weren't kidding. I can't believe I FINALLY timed something right. Got my Tepui a month or so ago when they were at their lowest price point, and now it's back up. This is a first for me.

Hopefully you can find another deal on one some time soon

Yep. Mine arrived last week. 450 dollar price jump on it since then. I'd say they were trying to move old stock for the Thule rebranding. I saw a couple of pics online. The tents say "Thule by Tepui" on them

@Armyhater458 lets see pictures of that new rack!

im still working on mine. Tube notching without a notcher is difficult, but doable

Question-has anyone mounted their RTT to unfold toward the back of your truck instead of the side? I’m trying to decide as the annex would offer entry into the bed of the truck without having to go outside. One thing I’ve thought is that it would be harder to use the tailgate for cooking, etc; but if it’s raining it would let me be under cover. TIA. Pics would be appreciated if you have mounted yours this way.

Looks kind of nice--I saw where you were thinking of doing the same thing. I didn't think about how far back it would have to sit to open that way. Did you get yours and did you have it open to the back? I'm putting mine over a camper shell--wonder if anyone has done that?

Going to install my new tent this week. My last one opened to the side. I'm going to take some measurements and see how much room I'll have. If it hampers access to my bed drawer system, I'll definitely go back to side opening.

If I had my RTT mounted higher up I would probably mount it that way, so it opens to the back of the truck. Currently though, I'd have to duck just to stand under it so that's why I have mine going off to the side.

I still haven't gotten a picture of the truck or rack. I will have to snag one today or tomorrow and post it up. More importantly I need to get out and use it!
