The saga continues.....frame recall 2017

So I purchased my used 06 trd sport last year and found out soon after that there had been a ten year frame recall that had never been satisfied by previous owner. After visiting the dealer for an inspection I was told the window for recall was closed. Today I visited to pick up some ATF and found out the recall was just opened back up, letters going out next month! Thank god. I will include a pic of my frame....I have a 2000 XJ that has almost no rust compared to my truck. Now the question is are they gonna paint it or replace?

 

Pretty sure you qualify for a replacement

 

I hope so, this has been my first Tacoma and I really enjoy it but wanna feel confident driving!

 

Who else here thinks all Toyota Tacomas will have frame rust issues regardless of year?

 

I think they will. I have seen some 2011 in VA with more than normal rust showing.

 

I have my inspection scheduled for tomorrow morning, looks similar to yours but not as bad. Crazy thing is that it was previously undercoated by Toyota.

 

You said the letters are supposed to go out next month. Is there anything I need to do to be on the mailing list? Do I need to register on the Toyota website? I bought my truck used.

 

I would go in to your local dealer and ask...it wasnt flagged yet but was scheduled to go out next month. My appointment is monday.

 

Hell I was using a wire wheels 3 days ago on my frame getting surface rust off and painting it. Maybe I should just let it eat
