I'm not sure they really care by the way the conversation, but they are going to try to find a solution, which I really hope doesn't end up a basic trade-in offer, it feels like it will be but I'm holding out to see what they come back with. I figure the LL valuation drops 10cents/mile OR 10% of cost of vehicle, whichever is less. That works out to $3,800 so I will be using that as my parameter. I will already be out about $1k for undercoat/rust protection with yearly touch-ups and other items. So that puts my loss up to about $5,000 if I went through LL.

Plus I’ve paid about $1,300 in truck payments (comping in down payment) for time I’ve been in a loaner. So I’m down $2,300 between that and other things I won’t get back right off the bat.

I'd lose it if I won a LL case, they treat it essentially as a usage fee. So if the dealership is at/around $3,800 being what I need to cough up to swap out, I'd strongly consider it.

We will see what they come back with in the next few days, hoping for the best, preparing for the worst!

i think usage should be based on mileage....not payments......if you figure it out, it would mean a very high cost per mile if you have only had it a few months......i would not allow them to do that.......if they trade even across the board, and you pay for any upgrades, you should come out with the same loan amount that is currently due on old truck

We have an ignore list feature that you can use.

I call it my 'safe place', and it has been pretty crowded. Amazingly enough, the mods have perma banned a few of my residents and some space is freeing up. :D

I won't lie...I didn't read it...it's very long...but judging from the pictures and if it is something that upset you enough to post a poll on TW...then it upsets me too and I find it unacceptable...down with the man!

talking about the "usage" they want to charge you it you trade up......your monthly payments you stated would be a high price to pay for usage......take your mileage on truck and divide it into the amount of the payments and you get cost per mile......

Just chiming in here because I found the timing cover oil leak present on my vehicle (40Kmi) ... Walked in with pictures ... they had it on the lift for 20 minutes and came back saying it was definitely the timing cover. Told me they would call me in a few weeks because they needed to have a bay clear for 3 days and they were backed up with recall work. Two weeks later, they called me and set an appointment for May 6, told me everything would be covered including a rental. My only concern is that the dealer won't torque all the fasteners properly when putting everything back together, simply because of the amount of components that need to be removed. Considering hiding a camera under the hood for Tacomaworld laughs.

Also contemplating getting a quote on having the serpentine belt and pilot bearing replaced, because there is a little wobble in the system. Seems like with everything out that it would be the time to do it.

If you look at my shots in post 1, that is the passenger side, black flywheel looking top-down is on the left. My shots are from under looking up toward the passenger seat.

Not to be rude, but if it's so unreliable, in ~2 years, how the heck has it been out of service for 49 days and you have what you said to be 53k miles? Something doesn't add up. That many miles isn't impossible, but if it were unreliable, the miles wouldn't be racking up like that.

If the engine has been disassembled once, how the heck was the gasket not replaced to solve the leak? Why didn't someone say, "for $25, a gasket will shut this guy up"?

Something just doesn't add up to all your stories.

No air dam on mine, I had the skid off but you may be able to get under there with a light and at least check with it on.

I can’t trust it to be reliable. It has had a myriad of mechanical issues stack on top of some assembly issues. 12 days for bed assembly problem within a few months, then 7 days for new leaf pack, body dampers for diff howl (which they found on this visit again and took it upon themselves to address) and the good gluing. 31 days today (and counting) on this visit for braking shudder 30-10mph, + oil leak I found the day before I brought it in + diff howl (2nd time). 51 days in 2yr/7mo

+ pinch weld rust + electrical gremlin + fuel pump chirp, so I’d say I didn’t get the quality I expected from a new vehicle, I can’t say I’ve got faith that it will prove reliable at this point.

The oil leak rejection touched it off for me, it’s definitely a pia.

Buy a ranger. Your problems will seem trivial in comparison.
