Hmmm.... the instructions in my kit specifically said to remove the yellow clips from the stock HU and put them on the kit. I've had my dahs kit installed now for 3 years and it's still tight as a glove.

I think mine did too. I don't remember 100% since it's been so long, but I know I read it somewhere as a "Note:" "Caution" type thing.

Edit: Ok I just went and found the documentation/boxes/packaging from my install (yes, I keep all that kinda shit), and the Scosche kit I had came with one small sheet of install instructions. It does say to replace the mounting tabs, but not in a place you'd really expect. Although it wasn't a "Note:" "Caution" situation it's there nonetheless.

    Pic of instructions: http://www.tacomaworld.com/gallery/data/500/DSC_03992.JPG

Side note...My kit was the single din kit, and I'd assume it's the same for double. Then again we know where assuming gets us sometimes.

Well, it came with a piece of paper with some very sketchy diagrams, and a note that said to remove the yellow clips from the OEM unit and put them on the dash kit. So I guess you could call that instructions....

I used the Scosche kit too, but used the factory metal rails. I'm really happy with mine.

I got mine from a member of this site, didn't have ANY problems installing it, no rattling, no modding or anything. Like you said "LIKE A GLOVE" period!!! hell it went in so much better than the OE radio I put in lol.

I had some trouble with the Schoshe kit at first. I had all the clips in but it was still a little loose. So all I did was wrap some electrical tape around the clips before I pressed them in ( making a tighter fit) and haven't had any issues since.

speaking of the yellow clips, I happened to break one when taking mine off the factory radio. In the interim, I robbed one from the little tray to the left hand side on my auto trans. I looked all over the illustrations on toyotapartsales.com, and it appears they only come when purchasing something that uses them. Anybody know the Toyota p/n?
