If this is a reportable incident, I would demand compensation for diminished value.

Pfft all the people that would have lost their shit. I would have used this as an excuse to exit my Tacoma for a new one or some extras. I guess part of growing up is not getting attached to shit. It's not like it's a Porsche GT3 or RSR.

Agreed. I'd make em replace the vehicle now that I've had time to think about it.

Yeah man. It's just a truck, a mistake, but an opportunity to trade up imo.

I wouldn’t get too mad about it. It sounds like it was unintentional. Shit happens and it sounds like they’re taking responsibility.

I would suggest having another shop look it over for damages. Some place like a frame shop or collision shop.

Think about asking for some warranty extension too.

WOW I expected some responses but I had no clue there would be this many.

    What i'm gathering:
    1. I am way too calm about this and the shop certainly got very lucky having it happen to me.
    2. I'm now a bit more paranoid thanks to you all. haha ... But maybe I should be.
    3. Maybe I really should exit the truck. I should be able to put my armor, prinsu rack and shell on a 2019 right?
Maybe everything but the shocks unless i find stock shocks to put back in it's place. But sounds like maybe I don't want to trust those shocks anyway.

    - Also i'm getting more frustrated by the day with every day them saying ... Tomorrow. I'm leaving to europe for 3 weeks this weekend.

I would remain calm but definitely firm. If it landed on it’s tires and had that damage, I can’t believe that there isn’t frame damage.
If you want to keep the truck, I would definitely pursue a serious extended warranty either that or try to get a seriously amazing deal on a new truck

What part of Europe? Imo if *I* dropped it, I'd get whatever fixed and drove the wheels off it. But because they did it, worst case I'm getting extended warranty, best case I'm getting a killer deal on a new truck

I would probably not want to keep that truck. Sounds worse than buying a used long travel truck.

I’d be civil about it but sure find a way to stick it to them. And not feel bad about it either. It’s a business, let them make an insurance claim or whatever.

    Stock for now
Im with the others about the frame. Think about the truck falling backwards then stopping when the front hit an obstacle. The rear of the lift pretty much held the entire weight of your truck on a surface area of a square inch or two. The force that was applied to the fenders/hood was also applied to your frame in a smaller surface area. Not sure if your tires stopped it or your front end did. It landed on the tires after hitting the hood I bet, kind of the second impact. It looks like it fell to the side as well, so there is potential that one side of the frame fell off the lift and made contact with the underside of the body. Just to be clear, I am totally speculating.

Not that I wouldn't trust the folks that ruined your truck, but you should get that looked at by an impartial mechanic. Too much potential for unseen damage.

As far as what I would have done, can't really say.

I've witnessed a car fall off a lift myself - not from me ;)
makes a hell of lot of noise! It was a Lincoln and it endo'd into the front grill. $$$$$$

I think it's perfectly reasonable to be calm, and not worried. It's clear the hood/fenders absorbed most of the impact. Judging from the scrapes you already offroad it, i'd be surprised if your rear suspension or frame was damaged in any meaningful way. Getting a second opinion is rarely a bad idea, mind you.

If you /wanted/ a new truck, this would be the time, but if it were mine, i'd just have them fix it and be happy to have my truck back. Shit happens

That's actually how the one I saw endo'd - mechanic forgot to take out the pogo stick and lowered the car!

Shit happens. Fix it and move on. Make sure there's a warranty to cover it if you find something they missed.

Sounds like they need a new company vehicle. Tell them to buy it or go to court!

Like many have said already I would have them get me into a new truck ... Even though they have done all the repairs and maybe will give an extended warranty .resale value has taken a hit because of this, thats possibly thousands out of your pocket due to their mistake.

What does your cab/bed vertical gap look like now? I think I'd trade it in. That isn't a routine adventure.

If I lift the truck from a bit further back it's going to make it easier to get the transmission in/out... hmmm... I'll put this lift point just in front of the rear axle... and the other one just under the back of the CAB.
Perfect, man I'm pretty smart, why don't the rest of these idiots lift it like this when doing a tranny swap????
