May take a bit. OP said he was leaving for Europe this weekend.

Now if it's the continent or the band I'm unsure.

OP’s initial inclination was to ask for an extended warranty. Sounds like now he’s looking to be bought out or at least considering it. People on TW always bicker. Despite that i think the OP was encouraged to ask for something he’s probably entitled to and may not have originally asked for. Net gain...

Edit: he probably went to Europe because of us. And unsubscribed from this thread :)

That's nuts. Accidents happen in shops though; not saying it's okay, but they're going to happen every now and again. I had a shop blow my engine 2 years ago (long story) and the dude who worked on my car runs that shop now. I definitely think you should be walking away with something extra for your troubles. A loaner is standard, fixing their mistake is expected, but you should be getting something for your troubles for sure, nothing crazy but free services, extended warranty, void of some of the charges, something. 2 weeks is a long time to go without the truck.
As far as resale value, depends on who you sell to. Luckily, because most people buying Tacomas seem to know their value and do fairly good research, most people would probably appreciate the honesty you provided and as long as everything is fixed, it shouldn't lower value. If some people are wary, test the waters with other buyers. Guarantee if you give yourself time to sell the truck, you'll find someone who doesn't care. Definitely keep all of the service records, but if nothing is structurally damaged, people will only try to use it to bring the price down if they feel they can take advantage like that. Most people will probably try to, but I can't see them being able to talk you down price wise much really. It's just not that big of a deal. I've personally never felt comfortable buying a vehicle via private sale where the seller just says everything is good, runs great, nothing's wrong, but that's not everybody. Get a feel for your seller and bring it up as a minor issue, because in the end it is, and everything is getting fully repaired professionally.

    Lol.

Selling a Tacoma is never hard. Get lowballed because of previous damage? No biggie .There are 5 people waiting to test drive your truck.

Maybe they need to hang a tennis ball on a string in each bay. Have connection points labeled for each make and model they put on a lift.:fistbump:

Some people just don’t get it.

None the less, the balance of the entire truck changes with the weight of his cap. So that changes things from other Tacoma’s he may of had on the lift earlier. Plus sometimes you get so caught up in getting all your work trying to get it done, maybe an arm isn’t completely set right or whatever. Or maybe you were distracted by a service advisor, or some sales guy bombarding you with questions, or asking for a favor or telling you something. So many different distractions and scenarios that can come into play.

Hell on some of the GM frames they use like a wax coating on the frames. I’ve seen trucks almost just side off the lift because of that, even having the arms and pucks in the right spots. Bottom line is shit can happen, and it does

    Hypothetically speaking here...
What if it was on the lift and a earthquake happened which caused it to fall.... who is responsible at that point. I am sure they would make me go through my insurance company. They would claim act of God and deny anything. This is on them, let their insurance take the hit.

I agree that the employee doesn't need to lose his job , but he doesn't need to operate a lift either. He needs to be reassigned to something else within the business.

I seriously doubt there is frame damage. Watch some videos of vehicles falling off lifts, it happens very slowly. Slow enough were there is enough time to realize what is happening and react to it.

Having said that, it should be reasonable to get a good trade in price towards a new vehicle with a discount.

Or having them fix it and ask for a warranty on it.

Or demand a brand new Porsche, that's probably reasonable too

I was gonna say god, but you being from California you should know it’s probably cause by me, from throwing out that pudding cup and not placing it in my recycling bin :D

All seriousness most dealers would eat the damages. They don’t run that stuff through their insurance. Some are even self insured under certain circumstances. Most dealerships will make it right. They realize things like this happen and they will take the hit. But there may be some cases where a GM or service manager knows the damages are coming out of his gross which effects their bonuses and they try to cheap out. Might have nothing to do with the ownership, they may not even be aware of the incident. So if you ever feel you’re being screwed, don’t be afraid to go up the chain. And if all else fails then I would then turn to a lawyer if they just want to try and screw you.

Not sure if it has been mentioned or not and im not sure about the 3rd gens but im 99% sure the 2nd gens are c channel around the bed. If this is the case with 3rd gen i would be concerned about the frame with all that stress in the rear. I definitely wouldnt be happy but accidents happen and luckily no one was hurt, trucks can be replaced people cant.

Correct, which is why they would tell you to pound sand and your insurance would deal with it.
