WOW! I'm sorry to hear this happened!

I honestly am a little late to this party and didn't read all 37 pages, but if you haven't I'd call Toyota customer care give them a call.

My new '17 TRD OR was in and out of the dealer for 2 wheel bearings, 3 new rear diff replacements, 2 whole rear assembly replacements and obviously all the TSB's and recalls at that time. All within the first year. My service manager suggested I call Toyota customer care. They opened a case and offered me 2 of my monthly payments back, I asked for an extended warranty instead. They gave me an 8yr 125k mile bumper to bumper warranty. They dealership also swapped me out of the '17 and put me in an '18 TRD OR with the Premium Tech package. (This was also the 2nd vehicle I purchased from them)

Obviously you have 97K, so maybe they can up the 125K mile to something higher.

OP was taken care of. The dealership and the OP worked together like adults and the situation was resolved.

Yea..I knew I'd get flack for this! I did see the they broke it so they bought it post. I'm glad as @daddy_o said you "worked together like adults". I've seen a ton of post where people fly off the handle and demand the world in return over much smaller issues.

I just wanted to share my experience and basically show that if people behave like adults and go through the right channels, Toyota will take care of you.

Glad to see you had a 2nd chance to make the right choice getting an OR!

Great Job OP. You really couldn't ask for much more than that. You must feel like you're on top of the world right now. Not too many people can come home from 3 weeks in Italy to a brand new TRD OR. I'm jealous. Well Done.

YOu did GREAT!! Those clamoring to get lawyered up were wrong. Once someone gets a lawyer ALL THE DEALERS ATTENTION and communication regarding the issue STOPS. They have no choice but to notify their own legal team, park the truck and wait for the outcome.

glad it worked out for you. Way to be calm. It paid off. My buddy took a car to the local Les Schwab for a wheel alignment and the tech drove the car off the front of the alignment rack and totaled it. They called him and when he got there, Les Schwab immediately gave him the phone number to their insurance company and wouldnt even talk about it. He got really screwed by the insurance company...

I feel like it was mostly the cab that got damaged from smacking the shell during the fall.

I appreciate the congrats. I still have mixed emotions. It's never easy starting a new 6yr loan when you only had 2 years left on the previous one.
It's kind of like saying I saved money ... on something I wasn't planning on buying. So doesn't really feel like a win per se. But the new truck will be nice.
If they do help swapping over my stuff and it goes pretty well then that will help. I am realizing how much stuff i had on the old truck. haa

They broke his truck then bought it from him and gave him a great deal on a ‘19 OR. The end.

I’m hard to please and I would have been happy with this deal. Congrats, well handled. Curious how much negotiating you had to do.

Enjoy your trip! I was just in Rome a few months ago, amazing place.

Nice job, OP. You got almost exactly what I would have asked for. Purch price of my current truck, plus a bit of a premium for all the goodies, and a screamin' good deal on the new one. If we both think it hurts a bit, then it's right. Actually, prob should hurt the dealer a bit more, but you're going to feel it a bit too. I totally hear what you're saying about going from 2 yrs left ot 6 on the loan. I was going to add even if you kept the old one, there may have been shock damage to the spring and/or shock attachment points to the frame that might let moisture in. IF they started to rot from the inside out you'd probably never know until a catastrophic failure. Anyway, enjoy the new ride, and a safe journey in Europe and back to the US.
