A temper tantrum is never the way to go.
Be an adult, be calm and get legal counsel if needed.

I would have been calm and not said a word. I would wait for them to offer a solution. If the solution isn’t a new truck then I would calmly ask for their legal representative. I would have then called my insurance company and lawyer right then before I walked out the door.

This has happened at least dozens of times in my life that I've heard of. A good friend had his Suburban land on it's roof. Shit happens.

BTW, he got a new one. Yellow and white square body so you know the year range. late '70s early '80s.

It’s been said enough times. But even if you keep it and get a second opinion, you need an attorney. Maybe someone else can chime in here, but maybe even contact your insurance and see how they feel about future repairs they may have to pay out knowing the damage that was caused.
Regardless, down the road your not going to get a fair value for it. Also, trucks are never the same after a repair like that. Just the slightest miss alignment of any suspension or frame components will creat long term issues.

REALLY curious to know what they say when you ask them for their solution. I WOULD NOT let the solution be “we’ll fix it” even with a B.S. warranty

I think I would hand cuff myself to the one in the showroom until we struck a deal.

I have nothing to add that hasn’t been said, but I am curious to see the outcome.
I hope you are able to get this resolved and are happy with the outcome!

    Good luck op!

I believe I'd walk into the showroom, find a new one, and say "O.K., you can have that one, the one that YOU GUYS BROKE, and I'll take this one, where's the title application and tag transfer and paperwork??"

Shit happens, but like these folks said I would use this as an opportunity to get a trade on a new one and a damn good trade in price at that.

Thank God no one was injured or worse!

I think you might have given up most your leverage when you let them fix the damage they caused. Might have been better to tell them not to do anything and make the sweat for awhile. That would have also given you more time to explore your options and decide how you wanted to proceed.

Anyways hope it works out in your favor.

Ok so I spoke with a lawyer. (I was very curious about the options here).

Basically the first attempt is they can try to fix it. You then drive the car for a few miles and assess for yourself if you’re willing to sign off on it. If you are not satisfied with that, they are within their rights to buy the car back at close to resale value. And exchange it with a car of equal value Ie. same year or close to it, same options, etc etc. which they can use their network of dealers to find. With that exchange car a short warranty is usually applied.
If you choose to get into a new car, then they buy the car at close to retail value and put that towards the new vehicle you are getting into, you just pay the difference. This varies by state to state, but generally it goes this way across the board.

Edit: Unfortunately they are not required by law to give you a great deal on the new vehicle, but normally it is in their best interest to do so. Same goes with buying the damage vehicle, they are protected by law from giving you over the resell value if they don’t want to, but they can if they choose to

Get you some fenders and a hood, have it all paint matched nice and call it a day. It's a truck and the frames on these aren't glass, they actually pretty freaking springy. No one was hurt and they owned their mistake.

    This is bullshit advice.

In situations like this it’s better to not think and instead behave on impulse.
