Thanks but I asked about regular A/Ts not M/Ts, main reason for going skinnys is to somewhat save mpg so a mud terrain wouldn’t really help me out. Wish bfg made an AT skinny though, I love bfg.
4.5 backspace good to know thanks. I’m probably going to get some new wheels so trying to figure out what’s perfect for this setup. Oh and pretty sure I’m gonna so some clearing with a BFH regardless

I didn’t see any mention of towing characteristics with the skinnys. I’m currently on 265/75/16 Duratracs at 45 lbs each. I’m looking to possibly go to 255/80/17 Falkens. Weight wise their only about 7 lbs heavier so I guess I’m more worried about the effective higher gear I would be facing. Any opinions or experiences towing with the 33” skinny’s?

Edit: I’m in the PNW so mountains are a thing. Also only towing a 2-3k lb boat.

I run the Toyo MT's, my mileage is quite good considering the tire, I really notice no MPG difference from having falken 265's before these, only differences are the Toyo's drive better, look better, more better better!

anyway you want 17's you mention, BFG makes 34x10.5r17 KO2's. their dimensions are identical to the Toyo MT. looks like you're all set.

:anonymous: I wish I could get 34s. Maybe when I get a new daily, then I'll do something fun/stupid with the truck
Also probably gonna get the coopers when america's tires big sale happens in november

do some research, they measure 33.5, just like the toyo 255's, the bfg km3 are 33.3, the cooper st maxx are 32.8 and so are the dick cepeks, the falken 255's are 33.1, so are the toyo at2 i believe.

so if you want skinny 33 why not just get the ones you want now? get at it.

I noticed a difference before and after. I have M55 skinnies. In the hills, the truck has a harder time staying in 4th with the converter locked. I tow a 3000 lb travel trailer. I’m on the cusp of wanting a regear. Around town the power is down but it’s still drivable.

Picking up a set of SCS Ray 10's in 17x9 and I want to put 255/80/17 Cooper St Maxx on them. I am lifted 3 inches in front and currently have OEM Trail Wheels with 255/75/17's on them with zero rub. Below is the specs to the wheels, what will be needed to prevent rubbing? I have mud flaps on currently as well.

255's on a 9" wide rim seems like a bit of a stretch. Will them be within Cooper recommended wheel specs?

good to go. Given the specs on SCS wheels, I suspect you will, at the least, need to lose your front mud flaps to remedy the rub. Maybe more, like fender trimming. If you want to keep your flaps, you might consider keeping the Toyota rims.

Perhaps one day SCS will produce some 7-8" wide wheels with their oh-so-sweet design and finish.

Most manufacturers don't recommend a 255 on a 9" rim. If all you are doing is street cruising it would be fine but for aggressive off-road and especially sand it is not a wise choice. That's the main reason I haven't tried a 255/80/17 on my DV8 17x9s. I'd love to get rid of my frame rubbing issue (GM problem, not a Taco problem) but I won't trade rubbing for bead seat issues and more wheel damage. I wish there were more options for a 265/75/17 or 275/75/17. :)

I have the more common 17x8.5" SCS Wheels. When I first got them I ran 265 70-17 and I had to lose the flaps and trim a bunch. Its the aggressive offset/backspacing more than the tires that create the issues it seems. I also run a 3" lift

Perhaps some folks with your actual combo will speak up.

There is not much difference from a 265/70/17 and a 255/75/17 I could just put 265/70/17's on them as summer wheels

SCS wheels are particularly nice. I have 2 sets, the Stealth 6 and the SR8. I just love 'em so would never steer you away from them.

So I would imagine a 265/70/17 would be fine then?
