Exactly! For a lot of people it is.

This thread is full of positive vibes and a community of people who like skinny tires for a variety of reasons. Everyone can do their own research so chillout coming in with the negativity.

lol, you forget this is Tacomaworld. But really not trying to be negative but this site has a TON of misinformation in general and it's difficult for people to wade through it.

Not true PSI the vehicle puts on the ground has a direct correlation with tire width this is very important. Every vehicle has a different ideal PSI and every off road condition has an ideal PSI. Generally speaking, a tacoma will get the best traction on a 10" wide tire. Here is a great dumbed down video for people to watch if you're truly interested in what your tire width is accomplishing. https://youtu.be/P7UrTNnSHeE

Ground pressure was one of my key points however this doesn’t take into consideration anti squat and anti-dive and 99% here don’t know what that is.

While the video basically resaid much that is here I agree that a skinny tire is great for a daily driver and the pavement queen but their argument falls apart when you see moon buggies and mud boggers doing completely different things with the same super wide tires.

Its not about 1-upping. Y’all just ignore both science and real world evidence. No on is this thread is using there skinnies in a manner that the stock tire can’t do. If skinnies were so great there would be a market for them in every aspect of Motorsport to include weekend warriors in Moab.

I've had 16 wides on a 3500lb truck and they sucked in everything besides snow. There is a limit to which width is good for wheeling, hence why almost every big tire is 12.5/13.5 wide.

13.5 is probably the biggest I’ll go but that’s also in part due to trail/track limits.

People like to forget that they were actually shit. Half expected you to reference camel trophy trucks from back in the day and guess what, people forget how much they spent winching and digging those out.

You’ll still find Jeeps with skinny tires bopping through a trail and you know what, they are struggling mighty.

Again if pizza cutters drove circles around others then they would be preferred. Instead they were phased out because they just can’t compete.

Waiting for you actually make a valid one. That’s why it’s called a discussion, people are allowed to disagree.

Anyways, people can run whatever tire they want and they can make up whatever bullshit they want to justify their purchase but good luck trying ever convince anyone that a skinny is more capable or better all around than it’s wider counterpart.

I welcome anyone to the trail to prove me wrong.

You’re the one who refused to read the whole thing ("hard pass"...remember), pretty difficult to have a good discussion with someone who chooses to be ignorant. No one else is posting real world pictures of themselves

To each their own, end of argument. No one if forcing you to go skinny tires and you are not forcing anyone to go fat tires. Each of us has decided to chose a tire that we think is best for our situation. I have run fat tires for 10plus years and wheeled all over the west coast and Rockies. I’m trying skinnies out now to compare for myself. Skinnies are not ideal for all situations and neither are fat tires, it’s a give and take. If you have another opinion, that’s great, but trying to win over/start an argument in the skinny tire thread is likely not going to do anything but annoy folks.

I’m good with what ever is posted there. Like I said I got a set and figuring out what is best for me. If we only posted “truth” on this site there might be 3 threads and 7 posts total. There is a ton of false statements in this thread and in every other thread

This is correct, I find dive to much perfer the 12.5 tires. Decending large obstacles is much more controlled with a wider tire and the heavy ass hood lol. Accending though... I find long boulder climbs like the one on grizzly lake perfer the narrower 10.5ish wide. But in all reality the 10 vs 12.5 isn't really what most people debate in the skinny vs wide its more the 11s vs 14.5s on crawlers that actually do the math when setting up their trucks. For really any tacoma driver I think your time is better spent learning about the tire compound vs finding optimal tire width when we're debating a 10.5 bs 11.3 tire width

Also let's remember that there's no need to get up in arms over a disagreement. Productive disagreements drive the community forward and help educate others. It's not like anyone here is trying to fight each other. Hell it could drive a community event like a wide vs narrow tires on xx trail and people could see real world real tacomas and get to know each other. Everyone here is here for the same reason. We all want to make friends and learn something from one another.
