Got my Falkens on the truck finally! I wanted to wait until I got my 5100s installed before swapping to the new wheels and tires. I'm loving the look of the pizza cutters. I can definitely feel the weight savings over the old 285s and 9in wide wheels I've been on since I bought the truck. Can't wait to visit some dirt roads and explore a bit now that I have a capable lift, too.

This thread singlehandedly convinced me to go with skinnies when the time comes for me to ditch the stock wheels

Took the truck out this weekend. 255/80/17 toyo OC did great. Loving my new Detroit Truetrac. I've covered about 70 miles of dirt with it this year along with these tires. The tire size doesn't actually seem that skinny once you get used to it. I tried to get as many pictures as I could that shows the different angles of the tire

Finally got a lift on the truck! So here's some updated photos with the skinnies. 255/85R16 Yoke G003. Suspension is Locked Offroad 2.5" shocks all around running 14" 650lb springs in front along with @AccuTune Offroad UCA's as well as their special N98 Deaver 2" leaf kit in the rear coupled with their also new accutune rear bump stop/u-bolt flip kit.

Anyway, I didn't have a chance to flex it out as I was rolling solo and try not to do anything stupid in those cases. But here's a photo drop!

Is anyone running 255/85/16 on 16x8 0 offset wheels on stock suspension?

Found one guy in here that is but he is also running 1.25 wheel spacers and he didn't mention rubbing, but I can't find any other examples.

I rubbed with 255 80 17 17x8.5. Same tire size but wheels slightly wider. I probably would have just hammered the pinch weld but I also did a CMC cause it did slightly rub.

Tires were fitted correctly meaning clearing lock to lock on the bumpstop.

I've seen it a few times, and I'm sure someone will chime in with their experience.

If memory serves me correctly, you'll have some tire rub. The 16x8 ET0 is going to move the assembly into a shallower spot in the wheel well. O.E. wheels are best for this size if no modifications are desired.

Anyone know if 255/80/17s would fix my rubbing issue on my 96 with FJ Cruiser rims?

I’m debating between those and 285/70/17 with spacers.

My wheels are a 16x7 w/ 255/85r16 Yoke G003 with an effective offset of 0. I had minor rubbing on the edges of the plastic fender flares at the back of the tire, and very light contact under 1/8th turn either direction during compression. A quick trim on the plastic edge and a slight adjustment forward on caster would have resolved those issues entirely. With a 8 inch wheel you would probably have the same results depending on the tire.

You caught me- you caught the dabbler! Haha. Thank you! I love em too.. I was a little afraid at first with the color contrast but I think it's just enough pop to not be overbearing.

I’m looking at the Yokohama Geolander MTs. Not that many tires come in that size.

    I love my 255/85/16 Yokes.
They are loud on the road.
    Way louder than the stockers.
They have been very solid Off Road.

I'm planning to put my wrangler stockers back on for the winter. They were surprisingly good in the snow last season.

I just picked up a set of 17" 4runner wheels just so I could get into an all terrain with a mileage warranty in the 255. Getting everything installed on Monday.

Yessir! The Wildpeak 255/80r17s on Amazon were running about $230 a piece with free shipping. Hard to beat! I'm enjoying the tires so far, and I can feel the difference in acceleration and braking over the 285/70s I had on. I'm saving at least 15lbs per corner with the new wheels and tires.

Since I got the new wheels on I've had flashing and solid TPMS light flashing. All tires are ~32psi. May need to drop by Discount Tire to see if there's something up with the sensors themselves or if I need to reset something in the truck. Got the tires mounted and balanced at Discount Tire and will continue to support them, even though I didn't buy this set from them.

I've run four sets of Geolandar A/T on four different trucks, and loved them. The A/T does everything I need off road and they are much more quiet than the M/Ts on pavement. And they wear like iron.
