The SKINNY on skinny tires

I just looked for quite awhile and as far as I can tell there are no Falken Wildpeak AT3W available on Tirerack in 255/85/16.

 

what are the skinny 37” mt’s out there?

 

Ah I apologize... I looked up 255/80/17

 

i was concerned about road noise as well while considering the KM3
a friend was running them & indicated road noise was certainly tolerable compared to other MT’s
i’ve been on the KM3 for about 1.5 years & have only good things to say about them both on & off road
yes, they do hum a bit coming from KO2’s, but certainly not that sound from a set of clapped out toyo R/T’s which you hear from half a mile away
obviously KM3’s are narrower than the ST maxx in 255/85/16
i’m not concerned about MPG

 

How many miles do you have one them? How are they wearing?

2016 TRD OFFROAD, no lift.

 

about 11.5k miles now
wearing fine, no perceptible increase in road hum
rotate about 5k
certainly not expecting these to be a 60k tire

255/85r16 Cooper ST Maxx installed on Method NV305 16x8 with 1” Bora spacers. If I could go back I would’ve purchased this size vs. 285/75r16’s. Only about 50 miles on the new setup but so far no rubbing and truck drives with a little more zip around town. Big thanks to this thread!

Thanks! I purchased the tires and wheels from Discount Tire. Can't speak for other locations but the one I've been going to for 20 years has always treated me right.

Do you know anyone up at any of the Portland locations? If I ordered a set of 255/85/16 to put on the TRD OR wheels, would they do it for me even though it's a stock truck and it's not an approved tire size?

If yes.. what if I ordered a set of 16" Methods that required a 1" spacer, and I provided the spacers the day of installation. Do you know anyone around Portland who could help with this?

 

I had 255’s put on TRD OR wheels with stock suspension 3 days ago at a local discount tire. When I called to set up the appointment they said the tires were larger than stock and wanted to make sure they would fit. I assured them they would fit and they were fine with it.

I can tell you anything about the spacers.

 

@khax, absolutely we have stores near Portland. As long as tires meet load and wheel width and the adaptor you are using meets safety guidelines, there should be no problem with sale and installation.

255/85/16 Cooper STT MAXX no lift, stock wheels. Adore how it drives and looks. Still may go 2 inches of life in the future to add more off-road capabilities.

 

@MaverickT883, that's a great looking truck. Very capable with that snorkel. Love the snow pics. What happened that you needed rescued?

 

Haha bumped a rock with the skid plate, lifted the front tires and the front end slid off the trail.
