My current tires are damn near bald. NYS inspection in February, but I can let the truck sit until these come available

I bought some 285 Falkens, in C load, weighed them in the garage and they are all close to 62lbs. They are porky tires haha!

Perfect, looks like I'm waiting a couple more months for new tires. :fistbump:

I am hoping someone can give me some insight. I currently have fat meaty LT285/75R16 Falken Wildpeaks A/T and I love them. I love how they ride. Bought them used (all four with wheels for $250!) so I don't know how many miles they have on them but I've put 35k on them with good wear. I want to stick with Falken (I'm in college so not looking to spend $400 per tire plus mounting, balance, and warranty) and keep the 33" tire but my current ones rub slightly at full lock and flexed so I want to go skinny. My issue is that I am only finding the MT in the skinny LT255/85R16 size. I do a lot of sand driving out in Glamis, and Johnson Valley has some soft sand as well. I am nervous about going to a Mud Terrain because my All Terrain's do so good in the sand. I hardly even have to air down in the sand unless I am trying to go to China Wall or sing set out in Glamis. Does anyone have any experience with the Falken wildpeak MT and can let me know how they do in sand.

If you can wait a couple months, Falken is introducing the AT4W in that size. It’s been discussed in this thread over the last page or two.

Thank you boss. What a coincidence. I hope my local Americas Tires wont be a pain to work with when these start rolling out. They were a pain when the BFG HD tires came out and my dad really wanted them. Even though they were on tire rack, and Americas tires owns tire rack, my local Americas Tires were so insistent that they didn't exist.

Please ignore my ignorance on the subject but I have found varying views while searching the subject. With the new AT4W offering 255/85r16, I have started looking into to the size more. Since that size will only be 4 pounds lighter than the same tire in 285/75r16, will there be as much of a benefit over the wider option other than easier fitment? I know a narrower tire is supposed to offer less rolling resistance but my mind is having a hard time grasping that an extra inch or so of width would drastically impact braking, acceleration, and mpg if all other factors on the tire were the same.

I could try but here's a good video comparing them. If you watch all of his videos they are great and informative.

I think in this case you’re still talking about a wider tire that is 4 pounds per corner heavier so you might see less performance degradation with regard to breaking, acceleration and mpg if you went with the skinny. Though I think that could change with different weights like the 285/70/17 k02 at 52 pounds which would be 6 pounds lighter per corner than the 255/80/17 AT4w at 58 pounds. I think there you might see a difference in breaking, acceleration and mpg but it might be rather small. That's just my thought and I have no evidence so I could be completely wrong

I don't really see myself doing the type of wheeling that the video displayed a clear benefit of the skinny tire option. I plan on doing a cmc either way to cut down the chance of rubbing so I will more than likely just go with the size I can get the cheapest.

So hopefully someone can help me. I searched this thread high and low and got mixed messaging, some people said 255/85/16 fit stock SR wheels, some say it doesn't. One of the posts shows a stock TRD with the 16" wheels rocking this size, stock, but I have different wheels. Anyone know if the STOCK STEEL 16" wheels, the base model ones, will fit 255/85/16 on a 2022 Tacoma SR (RWD) - no lift, no modifications needed?

    Thank you!

255/85/16 usually fits 6.5-8 inch rim width. The offset is 25 on the smaller wheels and looks like 30 on the others. I wouldn't think that would be a huge deal

The wheel is different, but they should be the same dimensionally (or extremely similar, at least).

My mistake. I can’t confirm on steelie specs. My gut would lean towards them working just fine.

I didn't realize they were still putting steelies on the SRs.
