That’s a nice set up! I love the way the skinny 35s look. I think Mikey Thompson has something similar that is 3 peak rated.

Upper control arms and brake lines are vulnerable.

A good set of V-bar on the back. Cables aren't much good anywhere.

Yup! Mickey Thompson offers the Baja Boss AT in a 255/85r17 that is 3 peak snowflake rated. They will most likely be my next tire but at $500 each they’re a tough pill to swallow especially since I need 5 :jpow:

I know someone on the Kenda 35 thread found chains that will work. The MTs look super nice though
$500 is brutal! Is that Canada pricing?

Here they are for about $336 a pop. I’m sure you can negotiate a 5th tire in the deal

Or the Kenda Klevers for $258 a pop

Anyone run the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Ascent specifically in 255/75/17 on a 3rd gen ?
I have been on Duratrac 255/75/17's for several years now (7 tires worth) as I have a full size spare and replaced 2 tires at one point and I am over them. They suck in rain when used below 50% tread, they get rock hard and noisy and honestly, are not worth what they cost now at nearly $300.00/tire.

I am looking for something in C rated tire or even an SL or I would go with the 255/80/17 but nobody has anything less than an E, and for the amount of time I spend off road, an AT is really the only option. Honestly, the 255/75/17 fills the wheel wells just fine, absolutely no rubbing, and is all the tire I really need. Nonetheless, I would like to try a 255/80, but I am just not willing to sacrifice ride quality/comfort for another half inch of diameter in the "looks bad ass" department..

So based on the TireRack review posted by @Fast1, which I watched a couple of times as well as read the final report, I decided to stick with 255/75/17 and went with the Cooper Road/Trail AT in SL and so far, I am absolutely stoked. No, they do not look as aggressive as the Duratrac's I had on the truck prior to this, but I can say that for me, they look just fine, especially with the side wall blocking, but what they give up in aggressive mall crawler looks, they MORE than make up with ride comfort, compliance, handling sharpness in the dry for sure and we will see how they do in the wet since we are expecting a little rain this week (I think).

    Here are my take away's:

    (1) My ego would have liked to stuff a 255/80 or 255/85 17 up in the hole, but I did not want to deal with a CMC, lose my mud flaps or deal with rubbing just for a slighhtly larger diameter tire.
    (2) These Coopers fill the wheel wells just fine from my perspective and do not at all look "anemic" on the truck.
    (3) Going with an SL (for me) was the best decision I could have made since I commute in this truck and about 85% of it's life is spent on roads/freeways in SoCal.
    (4) I had no idea just how bad Duratrac's were until I got these Coopers installed.
    (5) I got 5 tires mounted and balanced for $1238.01 out the door (Thanks America's Tire).
    (6) The spare is on a SEMA wheel as well, and it (just like the Duratrac before it) fits up into the spare tire well perfectly with no additional work required.

I'll keep you posted on my thoughts as I get a few thousand miles on them over the next 6 months or so.

Sidewalls look fantastic for a AT truck tire that is primarily used on pavement.

    Plus a 6 Years / 65,000 Miles warranty.

It sure can be eye opening when comparing how your previous tires performed after installing a new set that is light years better.

Let us know how your MPG is after a few tanks vs the old rollers.

Glad the Tire Rack AT test was valuable for your purchase decision.

Yes indeed on all points. This morning was my first trip to work on the freeway with these new Coopers and they handle superbly. It was super foggy so the roads were definitely wet, tho no standing water and the truck felt well planted on sharp corners while accelerating out. I will say they are a little "floaty'er" than the duratracs were at speed.
I monitor tire pressures while driving and these cooper's went from 34 psi when I pulled out of the driveway to 37 psi when I pulled onto the jobsite 29 miles later (according to TPMS). Other than that, no drama, nice handling, virtually silent, super smooth and compliant compared to the duratracs... huge win in my book.

Hi all, I need some help. I had skinny 33’s on OEM TRD offroad wheels (+25mm). No rubbing everything was perfect on road and offroad. I upgraded to OEM TRD pro wheels (2021 version, +13 offset). I do not rub on the new wheels at full lock, but if I take a small dip while turning I get a terrible rubbing sound (sounds like plastic wheel well rub). Any tips? I assumed skinny 33s would not rub at all :(

The margin is so small that a change in offset is what likely caused it. I'm running the same specs and had to do some trimming/heat gun adjustments to my wheel wells.

I agree that might be the case. I’m no expert but the few times it rubbed it definitely sounds like the wheel well/plastic so hopefully not the frame. As far as trimming any advice for a novice on where to begin or what areas to focus on?

I wish I could find the thread/posts I used to research my wheels and the cutting I'd have to do. But basically you can find these areas by turning your wheels to full lock and cutting the plastic closest to the tire each time, even if its not touching at full lock, it's those areas that are catching.

My advice is to go slow, measure twice, cut once, and use the heat gun more than the dremmel. In my opinion you can bend/shape the plastic out of the way and cutting isn't totally necessary, at least on the front of the well.
