So I finally ordered everything for my lift. Right after install I am 99% sure I want to do 255/85-16.

Can any of you with a 2nd gen, 3in lift, on 255/85-16 (255/75-17) post a pic next to another 2nd gen with 3in lift and 285/75 tires? I would love to see a side by side view.

You don't ask for much, do you? :D

    What about 255/80-17?

Sorry, I've been off TW for a couple of weeks.
I used rattle can on my wheels to color match them.
    1. Sand to knock down the gloss.
    2. Clean the wheels.
    3. Spray on adhesion promoter. (Same brand as the paint.)
    4. Apply 3 to 4 cotes of color matched paint.
    5. Alow to dry/cure for 3-4 days.

I have been on a couple off road trips. The wheels have been coated in mud several times and the paint is holding up great.

It's not perfect, I have had to touch up a couple of spots that chipped or scratched.
All i did for the touch ups is clean the area and a couple of quick shots of the leftover paint. Unless you know where to look you can't see the touchups.

Thank you that helps a bunch! I am going to pick up color match paint today to do my wheels. I wonder if Autozone has it available.

:D I know it might be a lot to ask but a side by side comparison would be useful for this thread. Seeing a skinny next to the more popular equivalent wide would be very helpful.

    I meant 255/80-17

It would need to be the same tire to really see the difference. Here is a pic of a 265/75, 255/85, and a 285/75.

Very helpful. Now if you could just show me what they look like side by side on a truck...

Maybe a 2009 Barcelona DCSB TRD OR with 3" OME lift?

    Great. Thanks.

If it helps, I saw the STT Maxx at 255 on a tacoma and had to get out and take a look to see what size it was, thinking that it was bigger than 255. It doesn't look skinny on a midsize truck, especially in such an aggressive looking tire.

Obviously 3rd Gen but this is that tire with 1.75 inch 6112/5160 lift.

Looks like the current $50 rebate deal ends Sept 30th. Maybe we will see a good deal on tires in Oct! I am doing my lift Oct 28th and my tires are pretty bad. I need new ones now!

If I come across a good deal I'll post.

Nice looking rig! In your signature line it says 255/70R17. Can you confirm whether you have 255/75 or 255/80? I have the same suspension set-up as you and I was just curious about the space in the wheel wells.

Sorry - I never noticed the typo - these are 255/80/17. Thanks! It's worked great with this setup. FYI.
