Heck current p rated 265 comes in at 40#. Hell I average between 21-26mpg. Don’t really want to loose too much.

Excellent choice and looks great man! I usually go down to 20 psi on rough roads. That's a good point on the wheel bearing with the heavier wider tires not to mention the rubbing.

Awesome tires! I'll do a full review with more measurements and ride quality opinion in the near future.

Did you happen to get a weight on these?

Looks great. Did you do gears yet? Did you have the usual fitment issues? Just curious since it's a skinny 35. Also, I think I saw weight of these around 68 lbs. Not too bad for a 35.

Yes I have already re-geared. I've been running the 4.88s with 255 85s for a couple years. I don't really notice any difference in acceleration with the larger tires and 4.88s. I actually couldn't find a weight on these online but I did use a bathroom scale and they weighed in at 68lbs!
As far as fitment goes when I did my CMC and pinch weld flattening I just went deep enough to clear 35x12.50s. I figure no reason to half ass it lol.
    20190731_140627.jpg
From my observation I'm guessing I had to do allot less fender flare trimming and hammering here compared to those with a 3"lift and 35x12.5s.
    20190807_074328.jpg
I have no UCA or frame rubbing with ICON tube UCAs and TRD 4runner wheels. No spacers. @spongejosh gave me so very good info regarding wheel offset with his setup.

Thanks for the info. I also have 4.88 gears. Best mod I've done. how much lift are you running? I only have the Bilstein 6112 with Dakars and currently running around 1.75 inches of lift. Was debating on the UCA as I still have stock UCA but same wheels with no issues.

I'm about 2.75-3" over stock. I think some kind of aftermarket UCA would be necessary for clearance at the rear of the fender well.

Here is a vote for Skinny tires. Good enough for the Dakar champion, good enough for me. I guess wide tires are for slow drivers.

Hey all! So I pulled the trigger on 255/85 16 ST Maxx a couple weeks ago. Overall I really like the look of them and I actually like the slightly stiffer ride they provide, no rub after I removed my mud flaps. I do notice a bit more lag in acceleration but not too bad. Couple questions though, what PSI is everyone finding works best with these tires? I'm running them at 38 which seems pretty good but wondering if anybody has already played around with different PSI and what there results were? Yes I realize I could chalk test or do my own R&D but thought I'd ask what others experiences have been. Secondly, I have occasional vibes coming through the steering wheel kind of intermittently. I'm unsure if my tires are out of balance, if this is just a symptom of having a more aggressive tire tread or maybe they are just transferring more energy to the vehicle as they are a larger stiffer tire? Any thoughts or advice appreciated. Stoked to have joined the tall skinny posse!

    Welcome to the party

I’m running ~40psi on mine and I think it’s a bit high....haven’t gotten around to doing a chalk test. They’re wearing just fine though.

As for that vibration, I’d say that’s not normal....my guess is either something’s out of balance or you need a good alignment. I’m not an expert on either of those things though, so hopefully somebody else can chime in. From my reading on the ST Maxx thread, they usually balance well. I’d start with that.

Skinny tires are plenty wide once you let some air out of them!

Well after seeing this post a few months ago I pulled the trigger on these today. Putting them on 8.5x17 Ray 10s. I missed the UPS driver today so I’ll have to wait till next weekend to get my SPC UCAs on and alignment done. I should be able to knock out my CMC this weekend. Tires should be at Discount in a week or two. I can’t wait to see it all come to fruition.

    You probably need an alignment

I’d have the tire balance checked...usually the culprit.
