Honestly man they're just stock. I plan on eventually upgrading them once I get the new bumper.

We just painted them for now....

Dude.. I honestly don't know very much at all about suspension. This forum has been teaching me some.

I had a 3" revtek lift installed 12 years ago. At that time I had absolutely zero knowledge about suspension or lifting a truck.

Yes that lift does have spacers. This is crazy but, up until 6 months ago it had the factory struts in it. Let me tell you, it always rode like a brick! I just figured that must be how lifted trucks rode. You can see that it has new bilsteins on it now. There used to be a black spacer at the top of the strut that said Revtek on it. Since the new bilsteins we're put on that was removed.

Sorry for the long post. I thought the spacer was gone (Shows how little I still know) but you say it's there...dang! It rides so much better now but I do want to do a real suspension lift...

I plan on doing that once I upgrade to captain at work.

I had that once. I crawled under the truck and gave the drive shaft a tug and realized that the carrier bearing was going bad.

    Might want to check that.

Doesn’t look like a spacer to me, just the top plate of the coil over assembly. I could be wrong though...

    Ha! Sheeett. I dont know.
Ha! Maybe we need somebody who's a suspension guru to chime in. I don't think there's a spacer either.

Definitely not a guru, but there's no spacer in top. However, your Bilsteins are set on either the second, third, or fourth notch.

Thanks Tony. I didn't think there was a spacer there anymore. There definitely used to be one but, when I had the shocks replaced, they put bigger ones in and it rides so much better.

I just got down here to FL to help dad put the finishing touches on it. Toolbox painted black, mirrors completed and installed, a few more places to polish and buff, another wash and a full wax.

Good grief! Pictures just don't give one the full effect. I am so sooooooo excited to get it home and have the shoes changed on it.

What does it mean "set on 2nd, 3rd, notch"?

    I'm guessing that they're extended a bit?

Man finding a black toolbox to fit this stepside is impossible. I got lucky 12 years ago.

Here it is finished.. looks like it was made this way.

Newer ones have 4 notches I think, but that's why I hedged my statement with 2, 3, or 4, lol.

Definitely not the first notch because you can see it below the spring

There are different settings on the 5100s to adjust preload/lift. There are notches/ grooves in the shock body and you move a split ring up or down depending on weather you want the "stock" amount of lift/preload or more.

Looks tough!! Love the step side!! Personally, I think those painted red coils you have are a nice touch. Great job and great father you have there!

Thanks Tony for the info and John.

Alright here is the tool box installed and the mirrors on. That's it! It's finished all that's left now is to wash, wax, go home to TN, and put on the finishing touches of the wheels and tires!

You were right I went and picked up a new carrier bearing today and it fixed it. It no longer drives like a mobile vibrator
