    I could see a big enough branch getting wedged between the tailgate and the antenna spring causing it to bend/break. But I'd think the stud from the spring would break first.

    Pretty sure the mount failed because of metal fatigue but it may have been a weld that failed. He has a longer Fiberglas antenna with a large spring that allows the antenna to whip around quite a bit. That puts a lot of stress on the mount. It eventually cracked.

    It was the angle piece that came off the part that goes bolts to bed that came off. Just too much force from the big antenna.

    Why the choice to go LT instead of a SAS? Seems like a SAS would be better for the type of terrain you run, but possibly more expensive since there aren't many (any?) kits.

    For the type of wheeling going on here, especially in wyo and mt. They aren't doing rock crawling requiring a soiled axle rig. They are doing more "mellow" trails (relatively lol) that would be made much more enjoyable going faster and having a smoother ride with the lt.

    Least that's my take from it

    I have though about it. But where I live I would enjoy LT much more. There are actually lots of places I could enjoy a solid front axle around where I live but for what I do. There are more wide open dirt road to tear up that would be more fun. And I know that the Lt will give me plenty of travel for crawling.

    Great "Ride Report"! I love reading these adventure stories on ADVRider, and I hope to see more on TW, too! Great narration and breathtaking photos.

    It seems the majority of catastrophic component failure I see on TW can be attributed to Lower Ball Joints. You guys have all scared me, and now I have to get into the habit if replacing mine every oil change:D.
