Yeah, I think Quicksand is gone from all trims for 2021.

Anyone know what changes are coming to the SR trim for 2021?

Might be regional or they are all gone I don't see any on the dealer's site, I don't see any 2020 QS in any trim listed on dealers sites. I thought I seen somebody from MD with a 2019 QS on here or else where online.

    I have a gas question:

Is #87 good for longevity of the vehicle, or are any owners using #92/93, or ethanol free?

    I have a ‘20 2.7 SR5.

I’m running ethanol free 91 in my ‘15 because it idles like shit with regular. I’m also getting about 4 mpg better mileage.

I run 87 and the truck goes fine. I put 91 in now and again, though. Driving through Utah and Idaho saw 85 go into it a bit and I felt the truck ran like shit with that.

i wouldn’t sweat it, the only thing that number means is the anti-knock index of the gasoline. it has literally nothing to do with the quality, efficiency, energy, power, additives, etc. of the fuel. a higher octane is just less prone to detonation.

fuel isn’t like engine or gear lubrication with variants, weights, and qualities; it’s generally all the same (regulated as such) and you pump it in your tank to be, quite literally, lit on fire. every modern day engine is going to have anti-knock sensors that’ll adjust timing if you run into trouble. unless you’ve got a high-strung high-compression engine (i.e. not the faithful 2TR) that calls for a higher octane, you don’t need a higher octane.

ethanol-free gas is another story, but it’s tough to find and more expensive. you’ll get better economy, but nowhere near enough to make it economical in the sense of dollars and cents.

Looks like a great adventure for yall! I had my first (8 month old) baby and I'm excited for drives like this once she gets older.

The thing that matters most is where you are buying your gas. 87 is fine to run in your truck, just stay away from the cheap stations - Walmart/Kroger etc. There is a list of "top tier" gas stations that basically use more additives and fuel detergents in their gas than the required minimum standard. These help with carbon/gunk build up in your engine overtime.

This link will give you some basic info on the topic. I always use Shell gas and you can sign up for a free rewards card with them too and get 5 cents off every gallon.
