That would be badass. I’m going to pop out the lights in the next couple days when I get a chance and I hope to see the same. Then I guess I would just have to cut out the spot in the side of the bed. Thanks for your help.

The 2020's are prewired, the 2019's are not. I have installed a set, but my wiring is far from the recommended. The lights themselves were easy though.

Damn. Did you wire them to the cargo light switch? Or put them on a switch of there own? Sorry for all of the questions, I don’t do many mods that require electrical.

Mine are hooked up to the cargo switch as well as ground switches. They will come on if I turn the cargo light on, open the topper, or open the tailgate. More complicated than they need to be.. If you wire them the way Toyota says to, it is pretty straight forward. They only change I would make from Toyota is don't use the supplied wire clip to attach to the power and ground. Those clips suck and usually lead to issues years down the road. Use these instead. https://smile.amazon.com/Lockitt-PO...N7WEG621R4N&psc=1&refRID=ERN3RDGARN7WEG621R4N

Awesome thanks for your help. One more dumb question, how did you wire them to come on when you open the tailgate?

That gets complex quick. I am using 2 relays. One is controlled via ground switches (that is what is on the topper and the tailgate), so if those switches are made (either one), it completes a ground. That ground is hooked to the coil of the relay. The relay makes and sends a positive signal to another relay, which is also fed from the cargo switch via diodes. So either of those can trigger the coil on the second relay and turn on the lights. This allows the added bed lights (and the topper light) to turn on without turning on the cargo light as well. You could accomplish the same thing without the second relay, but I put relays on pretty much everything. You could also wire that ground trigger in with the cargo switch to trigger the actual cargo light as well, but it wouldn't do me any good to do that since I have the topper. Here is a diagram, but it probably doesn't make much sense without proper labeling.

Edit: You probably don't need Diode 15. I always use diodes when I do ground side switching, but it really probably isn't needed. You could also get away without using Diode 13 as well, but that is what is keeping the cargo light from coming on.

@Fullstrut850 Also be sure to get the right lights. The 2019 take a different part number than the 2020s.

There is an OEM bed light kit for 2016-2019, PT948-35160, a number of peeps here on TW have installed, I have not but it’s on my todo list. Not as easy as the 2020 “drop in” light kit that won’t work for earlier years. requires installing wiring harness but it works if you want OEM.
    Instructions attached.

10-4! Luckily I work in a maintenance shop along side a good bit of electricians that could easily figure that drawing out. Thanks for the help!

Nice! They will make easy work of it for sure :) If you feel brave and want to tackle it, feel free to ask me anything. Good luck!

I’ve noticed the different lights for the different year models. The little square ones don’t look as bright as the OEM ones that come with the 2020’s but it looks like the 2020 lights have a clip, so you would have to cut your opening perfect to work with the tab on the light?

That is the one I used. It comes with the harness and everything you need (but get the aftermarket taps!). I didn't use the harness as I fed everything through one central loom, but the lights themselves were easy enough to install. You need a 1/8" drill bit, a 7/8"hole saw or unibit, and a screwdriver. That was it IIRC...

Anybody install LED headlights on their SR? I was thinking about putting on either TacomaBeast headlights or OEM from a higher model. If so, what type of wiring upgrades did you have to do?

i don't think you can get 2020 OEM yet because no one has created a wiring harness as far as i know. i'd get the morimotos if i were you. the tacomabeast rebranded alibaba specials are crap.
