Did you end up deciding to run the 285s??

Brought home the 2020 SX one year ago today. 9009 miles this 1st year but would have been more if not for all the closures and restricted lock downs. We had planned on much more camping and travel that didn't happen.

I replaced the street tires with Bridgestone Revo 3 AT the very first week, did the ECT always on mod and installed LED interior lights early on. I replaced the stock front skid with a steel front skid from RCI a few months ago and added driver front seat jacks. I bought and placed in the truck a tow strap/recovery kit, dash cam, air pump with plug kit, jumper cables, first aid kit, folding multi tool shovel, tarp, cargo straps, fire extinguisher, bear spray and a flashlight.

I also purchased a Napier bed tent, two recovery boards and a trailer hitch bed extender to haul kayaks.

I've had no issues with the truck this 1st year, it's been perfect. Was a good year.

 

Can you post another pic? I want to upgrade my tires to somthing beefier then the firestones the SX came with. And I'm going back and forth with getting just new tires for the 16's or going all out and finding some TRD pro 17inch black sema wheels with beefy tires. I just want to fill out the wheel wells a little more. And get some more rubber on the ground for when I hit up the trails over in NJ.

What size did you go with for the tires?

 

I went with 265/70-16. I should have and recommend going with 265/75-16

 

No I don’t have the money for new tires for a few months.

Are those the size he recomends? What you have on your truck, which is very nice btw.

 

Yep, Stock suspension 2wd SR, stock wheels with BFG KO2s in 265/75/16. It's about 1" larger in diameter, fills the wheel wells a bit more. Not sure most would notice.

 

Have you checked your mpg of the bigger aggressive tread tires compared to your stock tires? Truck looks good with those.

 

I didn't have the stock tires long enough to check mileage. They handled so badly I upgraded.

 

For the lurkers who haven't bought a truck yet. Some tire shops will let you trade in your stock tires on different ones while the truck is still new for a decent credit. Worked for me, bought truck drove 2 miles to tire shop and got it done.

 

Stock suspension with 265/75/16 Duratracs.

 

my 2020 SR V6 4x4 in MGM. Just put 5k miles on it and I LOVE IT.

I haven’t done much to it because I’ll hella broke

But I’m hoping to have new wheels soon! I had a set I ordered, but they’re still on backorder until idk when, so I canceled it.

 

Any caliper issues?

 

Right I literally thought of that and then wussed out. Now I have 2k miles on my BS firestones, which just seem more like HT not "4wd truck tires".

 

Thanks for the pics, I literally have the same color truck. And I have been back and forth with upgrading tires vs upgrading wheels and tires, 16 vs 17 etc. But yours looks great with 16s. Any more pics do they stick out much or nah?

 

I’m pleased with the stock wheels. They do not stick out at all.
