Nope, but there is rubber between the flare and fender…

I have the same too. When you remove them you'll start to see a rub line on your truck fender caused buy the fender flares rubbing. I was able to buff it out and placed a 1.5 inch 3m clear vinyl on the truck to prevent the flares from rubbing on the paint.

Same thing happened with me. Adjusted them because of a gap and theres a very noticeable rub line on all 4 corners. Did the clear vinyl work out for you?

When I went from steelies to alloy I rotated sensors 180 degrees. Just gotta remember to tell anyone who does tire work to drop the sensor prior to breaking the bead or you'll damage the sensor

Did you have any alignment issues? Both of my rear flares would separate from the truck and flap in the wind on the highway.

Living in Michigan with salt on the roads, I was worried salt would find a way between the flare and paint and act like sand paper. I intentionally opted for the sr, but this was definitely a concern when making my decision. Good idea with the vinyl.

I had an SR first gen. Best protection for fenders is mud flaps. 18 years, mud flaps, salted and brined roads, no flares... no rust. I removed the rear mud flaps when I pulled my bed, 2 short years later bed sides were rotted. Those mud flaps really helped protect from crap deteriorating the bed sides.

I hate the look of mud flaps, but they serve a purpose on my truck. I opted for the plasticolor 9x11 and mounted em high and wide to help with negative offset wheels throwing stuff onto my paint. So far it has done ok and I dont have but a couple chips on my rockers. My fenders and bedsides are not showing any wear after 25k. Again, I went higher than normal and wider than normal being as my wheels are -25mm offset. Heres where I chose to put em. Fronts are modified to not rub, the front of the bed got small splitters to help protect the paint (my first gen was beat up pretty bad in this area and I thought this might help), the rears arent modified at all.

Ya didn't have mud flaps but what I did was trim the fender flares over the oem plastic liner

Did you have to tap into the fenders with screws, or are they double sided taped at the top. My son got the SX package so he has factory flares (which is a worthwhile option for the additional $900 he paid)

It's only mounted from the factory fender screws in the wheel well. I didn't use double sided tape so I can remove it and clean behind it.

Good looking truck.. I went with the rekgen. Figured it would mount flush with the fender well plastic and not have any overhanging on any of the paint. Plus they are flexible so hopefully snow won’t build. Oem looks to have “pockets” where mud and snow can just parlay. I am however, a little worried about that little plastic flare/fin on the rear side of the bed, it is probably there to protect the bottom side of the bed from when the wheels kick something up, but worried salt can get in there.

Do you have a better pic of the “front” rear flap? I like that idea.
