But what if the shocks and coils were already put together? I could get Spring compressor.

6inch lift sitting on bilstein coilovers. Lexus is300 studs in front to keep stock wheels, general grabber red letters, nfab front bumper.
Then it comes down to 4.8 if you have a whole coil assembly to just drop in

He claimed it would take "10-15 hours of labor".
So they’re labor rate was 60-90 dollars per hour ??? Lol
Always two sides to every story .
I use thedealership for only needed services.
Of course Bobs offroad shop is going to be lower. He probably does not have millions of dollars tied up in his business.
But for every person that shops there projects for the best deal there are five that just have the dealership do the work.

I'm really thinking of just doing the UCA's myself honestly, if it just wasn't so hot. Seems straight forward.

The UCAs are the biggest PITA for that install but not that bad really. If you are going to take the time to install them you should also install the front shocks and springs while you have it apart.

I believe many people don’t have the knowledge, desire or ability to work on there own vehicle. They also believe that the dealer where they bought there vehicle from is the only place they will trust to get the work done properly. This group of people will pay the quoted price and will come again. They just don’t know better.

I wish I was a member of a website like TW when I owned my last truck. It would have saved me a lot of money while learning about my truck along the way and the people here are great too.

Believe it or not, most American adult males can’t even check air pressure correctly.

See I'm thinking that as well... It is just getting the coil on the shock without killing myself that is the problem.

C'mon man, they don't use lube when they screw you!

They charge that price cuz people pay it. Supply - demand. The end.

If you or your buddies can do it or I'll do it for you in exchange for steak and beer that really doesn't put a dent in their bottom line

Yeah that seems good. So can you take off the old shock/spring as one item or do you need a spring compressor?

or they have enough money not to worry about it. if you're making $1,000 a day, having to pay that quoted amount is not such a big deal. if you make $200, it's a different perspective.

we don't know what we don't know. the carl sagan thing: to make an apple pie, you first have to create the universe.
