A bit late getting back, but I put 2.5W fork oil to mine. ORI told me to find some 2.5W synthetic shock oil. I couldn't locate any in the time frame I needed it in so I went with some regular old fork oil. I would bet yours already have some nice 2.5W synthetic shock oil in them right from ORI. I was told mine might have ethylene glycol in it but when I opened them up I'm pretty sure it had shock oil. So unless you plan on going to a higher weight oil I wouldn't bother changing the fluid.

I'm to the point that I don't really feel like the pressures affect the ride at all. They just affect how well it flexes and what your ride height is, just like springs in coil overs. And the valving and weight of the oil affects the high speed ride.

I'm about to throw 2 more set screws into mine so I will have plugged 4 of the 5 compression valve holes. If I still don't feel like that is enough I will bump up to a 5W fork oil.

On that note, mine rides amazing on the street and down trails. It just doesn't handle the dunes as well, particularly the jumps.

Hmm. Well I guess I need to cal ORI. Maybe they can tell me what I have fork oil or glycol. The only reason I was thinking of adding the remote reservoirs was to possibly be able to lower the pressure. But right now they seem to be doing fine so I may just leave them alone for a while and see how it goes. Mine ride really nice though, really happy with the ride.

Also someone need to do some updating.....

From everything I've seen I think their manual that came witb the shocks was pretty outdated. It says the shocks have glycol in the uppers but when I talked with ORI it sounds like they switched back to shock oil pretty quickly.

As for the resis. You still have to have the same psi to achieve the same ride height. The difference is you have more volume so when the shock compresses the pressure doesn't increase as rapidly so it should result in a smoother ride. As for if it does or not, I'm not really sure but I love that I know fill the uppers from the frame and don't have to fight around the uca when filling them. It's much more convenient.

So you already have the resi's?

This is when I put them in with just zipties while I was waiting on some real mounts that I have in now, but no pic that I could find.

Jerry told me I could mount them however I want, but when I spoke with ORI over on Pirate they told me it had to be mounted upright like I have it.

Your truck is almost exactly how I would like to build mine. Supercharger would have to wait for a very long time though. Have you had a chance to put the coil overs to the test yet? How's the rear suspension working out for your needs? I too would want the ability to tow/haul and still want flex.
Not pulling the trigger til next spring, but I want to do it right the first time. This phase will only include lift, skids, and sliders, but I'm sure there will many questions later on. Looking forward to the build update.

I took the ORI'S up the Morrison jeep trail so I would say they are tested. They worked great we just had a hard time figuring out the noise the internal bump stops were making. I haven't had the ADS's off road yet but they work great. Thanks for looking and commenting.

I'm curious as to why they have to be mounted upright when I've seen tons of others with the resi's mounted horizontal? Hmmm My front Icon resi's block the nut on the Upper control arms, so it's a PITA to lube the fronts as I have to remove the resi. Putting on a plate bumper in the next few weeks and my idea was to mount them horizontally to alleviate that issue. Now I'm perplexed:confused:

Apples to Oranges. Your Icons have more oil than nitrogen and the ORI's have more nitrogen than oil. Your icons use a spring to maintain ride height and ORI's use the nitrogen inside. Internally they are completely different.

I don't know the exact reason as to why the ORI resi's have to be upright but I think it may have to do with the possibility of letting any oil that gets into the resi stay at the bottom and not spray out of the shrader when you drain them. That way you can just pour the oil back into the main cylinder rather than it coating your vehicle or work bench.
