Very well done. Just turned the $30 can into over $100 value! I really like the baffle design. That repair screen mesh was brilliant.

I only have one small concern. But you may have avoided it, with the angle that attaches the all thread to the side of the fender. I had mine bolted to that exact spot. Didn't have an angle reinforcement though. It cracked the fender completely around that hole. Like it was brittle basically. The vibrations over time were just to much for it to be hard mounted in that hole, especially without the upper angle support.

If I were to do mine again in that spot, I would add rubber grommets above and below, similar to how the top of the rear shocks are, to aid I extra dampening.

Just something to keep in mind. It took a year or so to crack around the washer, but just keep an eye out.

    Interesting.

Easy enough fix though too. Thanks for the heads up!

My pleasure. No need to have similar issue, when the knowledge can be shared to proactively prevent them.

It did tow that trailer good, but I think I need the transmission mod from ipt so it will hold onto gears better.

Also Torsp from weighing from the scrap haul we figured my truck is around 5200 pounds. But I'm going to try and run it across the local grain scale this week.

Nice truck Steve! word of caution that I ran into with an oil catch can here in wyo... Since it can get pert cold here I was noticing some freezing in my catch can... I think the lines always remained clear but i just pulled it for winter time and will put it back in when it gets above freezing for good. I am only N/A but was still catching a good amount every oil change that made me feel good about it being on there!

PS, I hope to meet up with you and Monte one of these days! I'm down in Riverton :)

That is even more impressive how quickly your truck is considering its weight. Mine is approximately 1500 lbs lighter. o_O

Once you guys get that IPT Valve body upgrade in, it will not only help the transmission last longer with all of that weight/power, but also make it shift more crisply.

Yea, someone mentioned it in the catch can thread. They were in canada and seeing 20 below stuff and noticed their can freezing... So i checked mine and there was definitely frozen bits in it. Condensation can be in oil and gets burned off when the engine fully warms up(call it 20 min at highway speed) and the block "sweats". The problem with the catch can is that it is removed enough from the engine that the water is not going to evaporate off, it just gets caught there until you drain it. After you have been driving your truck at full temp for a while pull the oil fill cap off and look for the evaporation, you'll see what i mean. It looks like smoke but it's just evaporation, unless you have bigger problems.

If you do some searching about water and oil in motors and catch cans you'll be able to draw some conclusions about what can work in a cold climate. For me it was just to much of a pain and risk to run it so i just took it off and will put er back on in the summer.

    Cheers!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I was aware of the condensation problem but I'll keep a close eye on it.

Torsp I've found a dyno up in billings mt I'm going to try and get my truck on it next month....before more upgrades :spy:

Ok got my truck weighted today. It was 5140 pounds with the two dogs. When I did the timed run for XRU I had an additional 320 pounds on board in the form of my sons. So is there a calculation I can do that will give me some rough numbers for HP?
