Why is it always overlooked? In my mind the Tacoma is still the most powerful midsized truck on sale. It's a factory option, 305hp and 334lbft torque. No reviewer ever mentions this, let alone drives one.

There's been a few reviews done on it. To be honest they usually knock it hard since for the total cost you can have a full sized truck that's more capable and comfy. Actually, in general all the reviewers seem to love to shit on the Tacoma. It's not car enough for them.

If Toyota would offer the S/C from factory I think it would dramatically increase the amount of trucks running around with it and reduce the cost of owning one. It'd be a simple as offering a "TRD S/C Upgrade" option on the order sheet. That being said I doubt they ever will do it for whatever silly reason.

Your blower has a lack of blow, or to much blow, whichever way you want to look at it. I'd put that under the disclaimer that, "your experience may vary :D"

    1. This is the 3rd feb section. 2. It is NOT a factory option on the 2nd gen which you are talking about.

There are decent reviews online outlining the pros/cons of a SC. An X-runner is still slow with one because of the trans and it doesn't increase towing/hauling capacity so its pretty much useless in my eyes. Theres my review.

Exactly, I agree. Alot of people think it some how DOES increase those. But if it doesn't, it's worthless. It just gets you up a hill quicker. I drove a friends X-runner before and after SC and it was quite lame.

I like passing with a S/C. It's also handy for merging. Doubly so on both points with more weight behind you. Boost isn't for everyone. IMHO the X-Runner is useless to me because it's 2WD. Different strokes for different folks.

Hmm, straight track or course lol. Again it depends how you want to go fast. If it's just in a straight line you may as well just buy a Challanger Hellcat and save the extra cash. If it's on the course a BMW M6 is going to have trouble keeping up because of all the extra pounds it's carrying.

Anyways let's get back to Toyota S/C. You can go get your V8 anytime if you dump that Tacoma :D.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
It has to do with the EPA and the way the supercharger is approved. Combined with the way the truck is rated when they do all their fancy tests.

It just works out better for Toyota to offer it as a factory supported aftermarket accessory than offer it as a model feature.

Technically the supercharger is not "supposed" to be financed with the truck purchase either. But it happens, and I was considering it myself..

Dollars dollars dollars!! They make a killing on the install. They may sit on the lot if it was a factory option and they wouldn't get the business to their service or accessories shops.
