You should see where this woman takes her Pruis. Found her when researching full-timing on the road. This Prius has seen some shit. I imagine if it could speak it would be like Sam Elliott's character in "We Were Soldiers" - salty AF and looks down on other Priuses that haven't been through what it has been through.

The little Maverick also has something like 1500lb payload rating and same with the Hyundai Santa Cruz, around 1400lbs. It's hard to understand why those little trucks would also have a payload much higher than that of Tacoma?

It's all fine and good until you get stranded on a trail because your Ridgeline transfer case has overheated. But it has 4WD badges you say....

Well 4wd badges on an AWD Ridgeline would be ridiculous. The 6 speed was the one that overheated, the new 9 speed has no instances of overheating that I know of. I don’t off road except something like blm land to go camping. I only really needed the 4 wheel drive on the Tacoma twice and that was to back up my trailer up a slight grade and loose dirt. Nothing the RL can’t handle too. No illusions though. There is a dude with a Passport lifted with 32” tires on it. He does some pretty crazy things that you wouldn’t expect to be possible with AWD but it still doesn’t come close to a stock Tacoma when off roading. The 360 miles between fuel ups is nice too. Only could do about 250 in the Tacoma. If I left the Tacoma stock I don’t know what the mpg would have been but I also wouldn’t have gotten all the compliments so it’s a wash.

Two different vehicles for two different uses, but are they really? Most folks buy a Tacoma or a Ridgeline to get around and occasionally haul a bicycle or some salt pellets in the back. The Honda is as better on the "paved surface" as the Tacoma is better on the "off road." MPG, ride, features, noise, not to mention ease of getting in and out for driver and passengers. So, are we comparing apples to bananas? The owners are the real difference between the Tacoma and the Ridgeline, not the trucks. Ridgeline owners wouldn't accept the highway wind noise, the truck handling characteristics or the difficult entry and exit. Tacoma owners would appreciate the quiet ride or the smooth power delivery of the Ridgeline. But mostly, and just guessing here, not near as many "can I fit 33.5 inch tires on a 3" lift" threads on Ridge Line World or what ever they have over there. No low range in the Ridgeline, as far as I know?

I looked on their forums and they have a 3 inch spacer lift and can put the stock OR/PRO tire. Maybe one size larger. Not bad. But, as you said, that's not the point of that truck.

Stop with the Honda El Camino. I've ridden Honda motorcycles for a couple decades and always said I'd buy a Honda truck. I still will when they build one.

4wd badges on almost all when engaged, = one front wheel and one rear wheel is powered at any given time.

The 1st gen had a 4wd simulator or something forgot what they called it. The new ones have a pretty advance AWD system. It always starts in 2 nd unless it’s n sand mode. 1st gear is 20:1 low for an AWD. Supposed to be really good n the sand. My house in Fla is a 1000 feet walk to ocean so won’t be testing it out anytime soon.
