Depends on what you need. Superior offroad and towing capability (maybe 10% of owners) get a Tacoma. For everyone else, ride quality, fuel economy, utility, comfort, handling, powertrain refinement, etc. get a Ridgeline. And then there's the new Ford Maverick. Built Ford tough! So they say. Looks promising as a PMR. Rave reviews, excellent fuel economy, reasonably priced as you can buy a basic truck without having a bunch of unwanted extras rammed down your throat. Only question is reliability.

I've got a cousin that comes over to visit now and then that bought a 2020 ridgeline. Their very happy with it. Strange every time they want to stop by or do a little fishing, i always get asked how my road is. I just get a chuckle, and say you never had to ask that question when you had your gmc pickup.

    Here is my Honda:

    DSC00216.jpg
    rebuild july 00 7.jpg
Honda CR125 powered. Drives like a toaster? Hardly. 0-100-0 in nine seconds. Once you drive one of these little 1/8 liter Honda beasts you will never be as impressed driving anything else. Anything else. Thanks to the generosity of my cousins I am blessed to have driven track days in road course-prepped Mustangs: a 490hp Boss302 and a 700+hp Rousch 5XR. Compared to the 42hp, 197lb Honda-powered shifterkart, there is no sex in their violence. Honda can be sexy, but you have to hunt for it!

Oh, and by the way, this Honda will walk off and leave both of them.

Not sure if you are joking or not, but awd does have advantages over 4wd. In winter road driving, where you have a combination of ice, low amount of snow on pavement and wet pavement, the awd vehicle has an advantage over a part time 4wd vehicle, which is obviously a 2wd vehicle most of the time. The ridgeline fails off roading and towing. But for 90% of what people are doing on a day to day basis, the ridgeline is a better vehicle. If I could get over it's unibody construction and it's super ugly looks, I might consider one, but I can't.

If Toyota offered a Limited Tacoma, that has the same full time 4wd system as the 4runner, it would sell like hot cakes.

I would’ve been okay with a ridgeline but the base models available back in July 2020 were 8 -10k more than what I wanted to pay. Happy with my SR and I prefer the factory higher ground clearance anyway

You can get a hood scoop on the Maverick. Game over Ridgeline.

300 more CC aren't going to change much for me. It's not a power issue or anything. Honda is just so white bread IMO. Hard to complain about them, it's just missing something.

I hadn't realized that there was a new Ford Maverick truck being offered. I was confused at first, trying to figure out how a Tacoma / Ridgeline discussion was bringing up these 'classics':

Well, I did state "I have plenty enough" salt. Probably enough for the two of us. lol

I will agree it's very Canadian of you to show so much concern over my feelings. It's nice to have someone who cares :)

The redesigned beak seems to be helping their sales. Ridgeline ended 2021 up 22% above 2020 sales. Pretty huge jump and I think it's because it looks better in the front now. It's outselling the Canyon now (and Titan, but that's a different class). Shows that there are people that want this truck if Honda can further fix the styling.

A friend's brother just picked up a maverick for 30k. Not sure what it came with, but I am pretty sure that for closer to 20k you are not getting awd.
