Speaking of the bowtie, that is the one thing I personally can't stand is they made the bowtie badges too damn big. It looked way cooler when it was about half the current size. To me the bigger bowtie makes the whole thing look cheap.

LS is no longer the newer stuff. LT took its place.

They have old LTs and the new LTs (which is direct injected).

I am a big fan of the LSx.

One older truck I would love to get as a play toy an early 2000's Chevy Siverado K1500 regular cab stepside 4WD that ride would definitely rekindle my youth...the Taco's will always be daily drivers though

Got ya, didn't realise they went back to LT(think they know there are other letters) I had an 96 formula with lt1 sold it when distributor went out, biggest pain to work on took over 8hrs to do a tune up, plugs and wires. Got a 02 trans am much better car, took 1 hr to tune it up much easier to work on and just better engine overall, but wanted a truck so sold it too.

Agreed. Although i think badges in general are getting a little out of hand. Bigger, bolder, and more in your face. I think Ram is the worst offender though. I can't stand the giant lettering on the tailgate.

I bought a Frontier Pro-4x to replace my worn out 06 Tacoma, very happy with it! Resale isn't a worry, they are just as popular as Tacomas where I live and a lot cheaper up front.

And I hate the catfish grille of the current Ram. My work has a 2008 Ram 1500 for a parts truck and often I use my 99 Taco regular cab for this duty because it does such a better job of the daily grind

Anything small block Chevy is actually a great engine. Even the wimpy 305 was a good engine for what it was.

Not sure why you would be sorry for the vehicle I purchased.
I have had my Pro 4x for 15 months. It has met or exceeded my expectations. The new Tacoma is a very nice vehicle. I might have purchased one despite it getting bigger. 15 months ago Toyota dealers in my area were not budging much on price. I could not justify the added cost for a few bells and whistles compared to the Nissan.

Glad you like your Tacoma. In the end it is all a personal choice we make in buying a vehicle. Time will tell on the Nissan and how it holds up.

Miss my 02 z28. Did heads/cam swap and a t56 swap. Sold it after my divorce. Two things I regret in my life. Getting married and selling my Camaro. This is the girl right here.

I agree with you on all points, except one - I found the Frontier uncomfortable and cheap. I also found the resale was flush with vehicles and lost a lot of value. I really liked the Colorado/Canyon diesel, but the overall costs made it very expensive compared to Tacoma, especially in depreciation. The color options were pretty black/white as well. If my memory serves, you can only get blue in Chevy and it is uncommon. I honestly wish the Tacoma was a bit smaller/lower, but it’s quite serviceable with a few modifications. And I know I can walk away at nearly any point in ownership and be at or above water price wise.

I know a few guys with the first gen Canyon... They are all heaps at this point, but I wouldn't trash talk that 5 cyl motor... One fella I know has well over 300k on one, and the he's not an oil changer..

I've seen these trucks perform in the bush... Good trucks.. GM yes, but GM does make good trucks.... I just had a sierra for 5 yrs, and in 200k, nothing changed.. OEM shocks still working like new..

Lower ball joints replaced at 100k... other than that, brakes at 150k...

Had a '98 that I felt the same way about. Little stuff broke in the interior, mostly sun damage. But it was an awesome size and ran great. Iron Duke mine was though.

Amen. 'mid size' is the full size of yore.

    o_O

    You had them tested? No?

    Then I bet they weren't.

Not that what was used was worse than any other marquee. It's just that shocks don't last that long. Ever.

0-60 is about 10 seconds and motor trend calls passing times barely acceptable.
    No thanks.
