I am designing a new roof rack that is specifically for off road junkies. I want to gauge the interest of the community to see if this is worth putting in to production. Suggested MSRP for the Tacrak will be $600 without lights. This design is made specifically for the second gen double cab as of now. I plan on creating a different model for the access cabs. Front will hold one main light bar, left and right sides will have one light bar on each side, and the rear will sport 2 smaller light bars.

Material is 5051 aluminum with chromoly mounts where it attaches to the cab.

Additional accessories will be added to the rack.

Let me know if this is something you would be interested in.

    3/1/2016

Chromoly mounts have been cut and made to attach to the oem locations.

Side pieces have been plasma cut.

Pretty sweet looking. Would $600 all in cover everything to mount or just the rack?

Hate to say it but your rack looks almost identical to SBC racks, and your rack name is similar to how another member names his racks

3 inch lift with Toytec Boss and All Pro UCA's up front. AP expedition leafs with Bilstien 5100 shocks in the back. 255/85/16 Cooper S/T Max tires. All Pro skids, rear bumper and sliders, Hidden winch mount with XRC 8000 winch. Dual Optima batteries with IBS combiner/isolator and solar. CMC. Auto sliding rear window mod, hidden CB, CVJ axles and plenty of other little mods.
When did it happen that the main selling points of a rack is lights and looks cool? What's it made of? How much weight will it handle? How much does it weigh? Do you plan additional accessory mounts?...gas can, tire, jack?

    100% "MEH" without more info.

Dimensions? Seems there is a lot of pertinent info missing in your product description.

I like it so far! Keep us updated on specs and prototype information!

Always nice to have more people/companies coming out with truck accessories.

    • Maybe make a way for it to attach to the rails of a topper (for us reg. cab guys)
    • Maybe make an option for NO light-bar OR you could make bolt on filler plates for the light holes in front and back in case later on down the road you want to add lights.
    • I like the integrated wind deflector or just the angled front end, however you want to call it.
    • I like the sides

Whenever I do a product introduction/interest thread, I glue my eyes to the screen waiting for input from my fellow TW members.

But in this case, OP seems to have disappeared.....

Mounts to existing holes in double cab roof I am assuming?
Dimensions would be nice, also I like the idea of the light bars however I would be more interested in one that allowed something crazy like a 52 down the sides, and even angle the corners with a cut out for a pod in each corner... I am scared of the dark btw...

Yes this rack mounts to the oem locations that are used for an oem rack I will be cutting one out this weekend. I can also customize this rack based on customer need.

Dimensions of the tack as of right now are 3'6 x 4'9x5". It will be made out of 5051 aluminum with chromoly brackets where it attaches to the cab.

As of right now 600 includes everything with out lights.

I plan on adding additional accessory attachments to the rack based on customer need. This is just a feeler as of right now to judge need I appreciate all the input guys!

This rack is made for a double cab as of right now. I need to find someone with a access cab to figure out the adjustments needed for those mounting points.

Sorry I didn't include more details I haven't made one yet. I will be able to let you know all of those selling points as soon as I make one. I'm still in process of figuring out what material to use. I wanted to keep prices low so that your not spending $1000 for a rack.

I wasn't aware that they made racks. The rack I'm designing is specifically designed to fit our OEM roof rack mounting locations while still offering a competitive price. I thought the name was pretty clever TACrak . Get it? Tacoma rack? Made for Tacoma by a Tacoma lover.

Only reason I though that was from that Project doomsday member, he used their rack as a rendering. But your offering would much cheaper compared to them which would be a good thing. TacRak I got it, it just sounded like CabRac/AccessRac/TopRac/BedRac thats offered from Prinsu.

Always nice to see new products being offered

Yeah I wanted to be a lot more competitive then what they are offering . The pricing for racks are insane on my opinion haha
