Me? Joke? Never.....I'm not in the least amusing.....

 

Being the patriotic guy I am, I needed a way to show off said patriotism whenever I took my Taco to a meet or Car/Truck show. So @Shmellmopwho was kind enough to make me these custom flagpole holders. They bolt right on with no drilling.

I fashioned the flagpoles myself using 8' x 1" wood dowels purchased from Lowes and two 2" wood balls from Michaels craft stores. Then slapped on some black stain and varnish.

So I ordered a Uniden CB radio and Antenna for my trip to Atlanta next week. It arrives today. The antenna package had been sliced open and was missing the top half of the antenna (center load). Email has been sent to Amazon. I hope they get me a replacement in time. #NotHappy #NotHappyAtAll

Started on the Cap Rack project. Got the sides from @BeachBoy and the bars from TNutz. Don't have all my parts yet so this is as far as I can go right now. Stay tuned.

 

@BeachBoy Do your side pieces have a front end and a back end, and if so which is which?

 

The front has the holes that are slanted for a wind deflector.
The rear has the logo to make it easy

 

Cool. Now my next question: How do those Smittybilts attach to the crossbars?

Edit: MUCH easier to install when the rack is upside down. But I've installed some on the truck, just that the t-nuts tend to slide or fall off.

Oh, so it only goes into one slot on the cross bar!

 

Next step completed. Ordered some SS 1/2" bolts lock washers, and fender washers from boltdepot.com (Fast shipping. Two Thumbs Up) and with some instruction from @BeachBoy I got the feet mounted to the crossrails.

At this point I can go two ways: I can bolt the feet directly to the shell, or I can install mounting rails on the shell and mount the feet to those rails. I think I will go with the mounting rails because it will make it somewhat easier to remove the whole rack if I ever need to. Yes, I have a total of eight feet; four per side. Why? Because if I need to carry something heavy it will spread out the weight better.

BTW, I have also ordered a Gen-You-Wine Prinsu rack for the cab. Stay tuned.

Where is the grill from?

 

I think it is from Bulletproof Fabricating. It was on the truck when I bought it.

 

My Prinsu Cab Rack arrived just now. But it is a little disheartening to see the box says "Fragile."

 

Got the Prinsu CabRac installed today.


Some people peel off the tape; some people punch holes in it. I went for the holes. You can't have too much water sealing.




Marking the location of the holes to line up with the rubber strips.



Some double-sided tape to help hold the rubber strips down.




I downloaded the installation instructions from Prinsu. They said to assemble the rack first and then get a friend to help you put it on the roof. But since I have no friends (none available anyway) I decided to install both of the side pieces first, bolt them on loosely, then install the crossbars. This is the pass. side piece.




I got on a roll and forgot to take pictures doing the cross bars and air deflector but anyway, here is is. My wife doesn't like it but, then, she a woman so there is that.
