I called 'em Turds for years before I bought a TRD.. I still call it a Turd.. doesn't bother me one bit. I do like Taco better though.

In between Tacomas at the moment.
I honestly never heard of a Tacoma being refered to as a Taco, until I started coming to this forum. I myself think it's a totaly silly nickname for the Tacoma - but it's mostly because I think of Taco as a hard chip-like tortilla....lol (or a part on a female). =P It just doesn't make the connection to a great Truck for me.

If people want to call it a Taco.....I don't have any issue with it. But I still don't. It's a Tacoma. =)

Yeah I never heard of it being called a Taco until I joined TW too!! I don't mind the phrase but I don't use it much. I just call my Tacoma a Tacoma. I will use Taco every once in a while but only on TW.

I don't think its demeaning but I think it's stupid. I don't refer to my Tacoma as a "taco".

I don't think it's derogatory but I don't like to call my truck a "taco". Sounds kinda dumb in my opinion. I don't refer to a woman's junk as a "taco" either, I'd much rather just call it a pussy.

I agree, my truck is referred to as the "Yota", "taco" or "truck" most of the time.

One thing to think of... Some websites use abbreviated or slang versions of Toyota or their model lineup. This is a legal issue that could get a website in trouble or force them to change their name. Sites like Customtacos or Yotatech are exempt from this because they are not using the full name of Toyota or their model the Tacoma. Places like Tundra Solutions and Toyota nation are infringing upon Toyota's trademarks and could face a legal battle with Toyota (if Toyota were so inclined). If I'm not mistaken not to long ago Tundra Solutions did face a Cease and Desist order from Toyota, the results of which I'm not to sure about. TTORA on the other hand received written authorization to use "Toyota" in thier name.

We've been calling Tacomas, Taco's for years. Phrase was coined from the industry.

When we have one that is loaded, such as a Limited etc, we call them Tacos with all the sauce.
