Not sure if you are a Howard Stern fan, but that reminds me of John The Stutterer's visit to the show last week. ;) He said "a taco is meant to be eaten no matter how much hot sauce it has on it."

I HATE the term "taco". It is VERY demeaning to my truck. I eat tacos, I dont drive them. It's a truck people, not a mexican dish. Not that i have anything against tacos, they are absolutely amazing. I went to this "hole in the wall" restaurant in NC called the "COSMIC CANTINA". Their tacos are friggin HUGE and they are AMAZING. Anywho, I'm getting off topic. My Tacoma is NOT a "TACO". :D

I don't call mine Taco. It's named 'El Blanco!'. You have to say it like Antonio Banderas though.

Personally, I don't like the "taco" abbreviation. It's not offensive, just kind of silly.

It's not a mexican food product. It's not a female genitals. It's a "truck", which is generally how I refer to it unless I need to be more specific ("It's the green Tacoma next to the Ford Ranger...").

Taco for our trucks is not one of my favorite terms for a vehicle... Now I'll call it Midnight, POS, Truck, "thing", etc but I have NEVER used Taco... Just because its silly and weird to say.

What about the people that LIVE in Tacoma, Wyoming? Do they say Taco, Wyoming??? Nope I didn't think so

To me, it's not demeaning, it just sounds dumb.

I don't think it's a big deal really if you old man finds the term "taco" demeaning. It's a term/shorter name/nick name...ect. for a bigger name...sorta akin to calling someone "tommy" when their name is "tom"; it's just a "term of inderment" But look at this way, your old man has pride in your truck, he does not want you to call it by something that may be demeaning. :) Just explain to him it's a shorter version of a longer name, and it's an endering term.

Surprisingly, nobody I know says anything or looks at me wierd when I refer to my truck as Taco. The only time I get funny looks or double takes is when I say, "I need to clean out my taco"
