The Tour

I was thinking of my ham antenna as 3 parts. The antenna (steel rod), the base, and the NMO mount that connects to the cable to the radio. So your answer confuses me.

 

Im replacing all of that. Other then the NMO mount that is bolted into my roof already.

it'll be freezing at night thats for sure(literally). But no biggie. Just bring coats and warm bedding.

Visibility right now is MUCH improved over the last two days. Up to 15-20+miles again. Its getting better. Hopefully the rain this week just improves it.

 

what with mike and zane? Shit that was nothing.

Devin and i have been in freezing cold stuff. Snow flying and ice stuff. probably 25 degrees or colder. haha and with my dad we got 2.5' of snow in a night.

It'll be cold at times for certain. its nearing winter at 10000' which we will be near a lot.

 

I am about to pull the trigger on the paid version of BCN. Are you going to create updated tracks of the tour routes?

 

I will try this week. The only one i don't have that isn't going to be accurate as i found a better alt route that cuts out about 30 miles of bumpy road is the Pryors.

But i will try this week. I packed up all my computer stuff though and moved it back to powell. So i'll see if i can snag this laptop for the week.

Yeah we are bring an extra blanket and heavier clothing. Our bag is a 5 degree bag so already pretty warm.

 

i sleep in just boxers haha great bags. Can be a bit warm in the summer but not bad. Or we use blankets on top of the bag.

 

+1 on the tracks if you have them. What do you use to edit tracks (or do you?) - either to create them in the first place or after you've run them and want to add additional waypoints, markers, etc.? I've tried a few, with GPX Editor and ScribbleMaps as the most recent - don't love anything yet.

 

nothing yet haha was using google earth/maps.

I use Maps to generate possible routes. Most the routes we are doing ive done but not all. Then i went and followed up on it to see how google did. Pretty accurate really. Only thing it missed was the switchbacks in the Pryors and it took me too an ATV only trail so had to find a different way.

I recorded lots of stuff so i guess i'll figure something out this week to modify things.

Dang, was hoping you had a great tool, since I want to clean up the track I recorded when I ran the OBDR - so totally selfish, hahaha.

No worries about a track for this trip, I figure we're only a few days from making our own!

I know mine has holes in it...since i know it so it is far from complete.
