i wish i had ordered a new 18-135 this week. Mine is fucked up again. Zoom is all weird and isn't as sharp in spots any more.

Not so cold here today. Kinda nice. Still raining though. Devin hit snow on Dun Raven Pass pretty good. All clear elsewhere. Said it was sticking was up high. Hoping not bad though.

Here is GPS data. It's not 100% but pretty decent

 

WYDOT doesn't have the stretch from 196 to Cooke City closed.

 

two questions, why is this file 20x larger than the the one it replaces? Also, why is it a .gpx file type instead of .kmz file type? Keep in mind, I have no idea which file type BCN prefers.

 

No idea on the size. Perhaps its due to the GPX file type..

BCN reads GPX just fine. I exported it from BCN. There are only 2 areas different from the first one i sent you and thats the Kirwin area and the pryors. I didn't have the GPS when i rerouted the big horns with Frank or when i went up sunlight in Frank.

 

Ok, as long as BCN can use it, that is what matters. FWIW, I was unable to open it with Google Earth. It looks like GE can't open this gpx file.

I forgot the Killpecker dunes track though so hang on while i add that and i'll post another.

 

Here is all tracks I have. Everything else I just know where to go so you'll just have to follow haha

Win 7 has no idea what a .gpx file is and I can't get GE Pro to recognizes it.

Go to GE. Open. Then at the bottom right of the file browser, change file type from KMZ KML to GPS(gpx, ect ect ect)

Should see it. Open it fine. Have it generate KML tracks.

Id just move it directly over to BCN as is though. Will keep the color coding i bet.

Yeah, figured it out, thanks. FWIW, all the tracks are baby blue in color.

 

That's due to the kml render. Of you import direct into bcn it'll be colored and have way points

 

yeah. I explored literally every road off of it i could when we went there. Most are very short dead ends to trail heads. Only way up high does it get interesting and if there is lots of snow, we aren't going. Cliff hanger shale stuff. Had a sketchy moment in Frank on one of them being super narrow. Thought the road was going to give out. there was another longer one, but it got too narrow for Frank and i think any truck really. Had to back out of a super tight S turn and down the trail a half mile. Was interesting. Then another had an entire tree down the middle of it. Not like across. But down the middle. Was huge. So didn't find out where that went. Again had to back down over half a mile of road.

Sadly, like i said. If the snow looks heavy up high, im not sure we will bother. Its a narrow one lane road and just climbs straight up and only two spots that i can remember where you could turn around at. Not sure it'll be worth the risk. There was snow at the pass when i was there this summer that kept us from crossing the pass.

 

Damn even the east entrance is closed. We had snow this morning at my place. Just at the snow line so was a dusting.

web cams show snow dusting on the mountains. doesn't look thick though. Could mostly melt on sunday. But supposed to be light snow again when we are there. Would count on rain for sure.
