So... While my frame was being swapped out I asked them to do a transmission fluid change. The service rep called it a flush and fill and explained that they had a machine they just hook up and it just does it. My question to all the smart people here is, where do they hook it up? I can’t find any indication that anything was pulled apart. The fill plug/bolt is untouch. The bolts on the pan are untouched. The tranny cooler lines coming out of the tranny are untouched. The hose clamps by the transmission cooler have zero indication that they were moved. I have yet to put the truck on jacks and follow the lines from the cooler to the transmission but I’m not expecting much. I bought this truck new and it now has 71k on it. I took it to the same dealer with 60k to have this same service done, left it there for 4 days while on a fishing trip, they found holes in the frame and never did the transmission service. I was . I would love for a Toyota Service Tech to explain the process to me. If you don’t want to share knowledge on this thread for privacy concerns, a pm would be greatly appreciated.

The one and only flush I ever had done (an old GM) the shop used the cooling lines.

There was no way to visually tell the hoses had been removed/replaced, other than they were wiped clean.

Of course I could use the dipstick to confirm clean fresh fluid, especially compared to the previous fluid.

There is no dipsticks on our trucks. In my opinion you can tell if a hose clamp has been moved. Whether it be scratches on the hose clamp from pliers or scratches on the hose from the clamp being moved by hand. Just picture a 11 year old truck from the rust belt. If a wrench gets put on a bolt, you see it. If a clamp or any other part gets moved, you can see it.

Only other spot would be the hard line hookups on the trans by the neutral switch

When I flushed my tranny via the coolant line, I pulled the rubber hose (return line) that went into the bottom of the radiator - seemed the easiest to access.

I have asked my teacher about this flush machine, it screws into the transmission internally behind the fluid pan (i cant recall the exact name)

Also, when they swap frames they just kind of take out the tranny and engine together and move them out of the way so i don't doubt that they took out a tranny line somewhere or something to do it easier.

trust me, if they don't check the fluid level per proper procedures after the flush the fluid level will be low. The logic of "put back in the same amount that was drawn out" will inevitably show up soon after with signs of low trans fluid. Have had my trans flushed three times since I bought it new, each time had to go back and have then actually check the fluid properly and get the level correct, each time having to add 1-2 quarts.

The flush machine is installed inline with one of the cooler lines. I did mine myself and the easiest spot was the auxiliary cooler. I would hope they actually did it. and yes they should have still double checked it was at the proper level by using the plug on the bottom of the pan.

Well, maybe they flushed the Tranny and left your transmission alone

My local dealer tried to rip me off on a machine flush. I don't think even half the service managers know the difference (mine was looking for a transmission dip stick ).

Go back and have a tech show u how the did it. Don't be shy about it. I learn a ton by saying..I don't get it...show me. I even went back periodically during my frame swap and learned a great deal.
