The truck carrier broke down with my new Tacoma. Now what?

5.4% for 6 years, yikes.

 

Thats actually a pretty good rate right now for a 6 year loan. Thats around the rate I go from TCF with an 830 credit score.

 

@amyracecar shoulda coulda woulda! It’s my first new car ever, I have had lemons my whole life. I expected it to arrive in one piece and pristine, never read or heard of any stories that said otherwise. The dealers lied to me and I guess tricked me? Idk. The fancy delivery does mean they are delivery it, but I might just tell them no. I want to inspect it at your dealership. And I’d anything is wrong I’ll make sure they will paying/replacing it. Or I’ll get a lawyer

@petethemeat Right? I even asked them if they were going to send one of their people up there to facilitate it/check on the vehicles for damaged etc. I definitely had the gut feeling they weren’t telling me everything.

To be fair I only read the first post really and since he didn't take delivery of his truck, he is not legally obligated to it whatsoever.

That makes every other concern afterward completely irrelevant.

Not sure what part of my post you didn't understand; no hidden meaning behind it.

 

I have read way too many threads like this one.

At this point I guess I'm the weirdo for picking from existing lot inventory, and that's after narrowing it down to whichever salesperson at whichever dealership is willing to negotiate.

But on the other hand... someone plonks a set of undamaged keys in my hand as soon as I sit down at the finance desk, so maybe my weird ways work.

I have never had a new car - always buy em used and inspect the f**k outta them before I sign/do anything.
5/5 at this point in the game.

If you inspect it at the dealer, make em put it up on the lift - look at the undercarriage/everything real close - and to jerk them around like they are doin to you.

You can't trust the dealer, ever - that is why some of us refer to it as the 'stealership'

He didn't take delivery but he signed all the paperwork and paid the first month..
Had he not signed shit/not paid - it would be easy to get out of if the truck has been damaged; now it is just gonna be that much messier if the truck doesn't arrive in the condition it should.

Plus now he is paying for something that isn't in his possession - are they gonna comp him the 1 week that he paid for but didn't have a truck?
Bet they can't figure out how to make the 'computer' do that.. or some other BS.

That is a great way to buy a vehicle. I usually buy my vehicles off the lot. Unfortunately around here there aren't ANY Tacomas on the lots. New or used. I don't know what it's like in Idaho, but buying a Tacoma here means finding a dealer with the allocation you like.

 

So I missed the part about the loan having been finalized and having made a payment.

He still hasn't taken delivery, and a dealer can be forced to buyback the contract if the OP refuses to take delivery.

A dealership would not want a customer to know this, and that's mainly because the vehicle would be sold as a "new vehicle" on a "used vehicle report of sale" with a disclosure stating it never left the lot.

The used car part comes into play because it's been titled in order to get the lien on it and the sale being reported to DMV/BMV.
