The truck carrier broke down with my new Tacoma. Now what?

There’s nothing special about a Toyota dealership to make it any better than other dealers. Most of this problem would have been avoided if you would have simply inspected the truck prior to doing the paperwork. I’ve bought a ton of vehicles and not once have I ever signed paperwork before an inspection and test drive.

 

When I worked at ford we had a mustang cs “California special “ backed into when they unloaded it . We had a ford body shop on site and they said as long as the damage was less then xx they didn’t have to disclose it. Let’s just say they fixed it and nobody was the wiser.

 

You know what's hilarious, I never signed shit until after i had taken my truck for a test drive and was satisfied i would be happy with it.

 

Most states have a law specifying a dollar or percentage of MSRP value that can be repaired on delivery without reporting to anyone or disclosing to the buyer.

 

Frustrating experience. As a reference point I found the buying process so frustrating and time consuming that I had my dad find/negotiate my truck, and I'm over 50 now

Given the experience I'd expect you could get a laywer to reverse the deal for around ~$500, i.e. an hour of lawyer time.

You won’t win anything. A lawyer will cost you a bunch of money and you’ll end up back at square one with your purchase money in hand and no truck.

 

@crazysccrmd you know this for a fact of speculating? Have you heard of fail to deliver?

 

The key is that they wont disclose it to you and you’ll never know if they repaired something. The amount that requires disclosures varies between states.

 

@crazysccrmd Agreed it would be hard to get damages but you may recover some costs and best case scenario get all of your spent money back.

They will say sorry, shit happens and we will get you your truck as soon as we can get it off the damaged shipping truck. By signing for accepting delivery of a truck you didn’t have you kind of tied your own hands.

 

Maybe it's an omen

 

If you can’t drive to a dealer on Saturday and see a truck, something else is going on and i wouldn’t take delivery, just move on, they don’t have a contract if they don’t give you a truck.

 

5 minute rule. If they don’t bring your truck 5 minutes after you sign, deal ain’t valid.

 

@MonkeyChief something feels like it’s going on with the lack of communication with them and the sus answers. There’s no way the truck is just still sitting on the side of the freeway after 4 days. Why would they have me sign paperwork and everything though if they knew the truck was fucked? It’s a very confusing situation.

 

What’s your VIN #? Maybe they accidentally sold it to someone else and are trying to figure out who has similar truck you ordered
