You're all a bunch of d bags arguing over 2 horsepower. Check your fuel trim, then install a cold air intake, then check them again. Unless you tune after install you will not gain anything other than a new sticker. Even with a tune, the "power" gain is negligible and not noticeable by the ass dyno. It is nice having a washable filter though.

I'm pretty easy on my truck, but with the afe stage 2 si and trd exhaust my ass dyno reports about a 0.7% hp gain over my old truck that had just the trd exhaust.

There is no way you gained 4/10ths on that. Gaining just 1/10 is like shaving off 100 pounds 0ff the vehicle.

I believe those numbers are honest. I do not believe the increase is from the intake. Either way, we have 200 RWHP trucks that are turds but are somewhat reliable compared to the competition, it ain't worth writin' home to ma about.

I get that the stock intake is "cold air", and the TRD CAI is generally agreed here to not produce any gains other than noise-related aesthetics. But I wonder about one thing.

The literature in the accessory catalogs says "The dyno-tested TRD cold air intake system creates more horsepower and torque by bringing cooler- denser air to the engine."

That is a pretty clear claim to a performance increase, even if it's small. So what is the truth here? Does this mean in combination with other products such as an exhaust? Is it increasing in some way other than HP, such as throttle response? Is this really just a bold-faced lie?

Well if you want a louder sound then get a URD, as for gains all i can say is it seemed after it was put on my truck had better throttle responce

I also have a NST manifold spacer on the truck which seems to have givin it more low end torque
