Thank you very much! I would absolutely get the LT45 for multi-color capability. I wish they were cheaper, but I get they are specialized tools. I might have to get the incandescent meter at some point, but I'll probably hold off on the LT45 for a while. Both would be pretty much only fill the voids of my curiosity. The hard part is that I don't have a controlled environment to do it until we build a new house.

I might take you up on the Racing Vision bulb. But it might be a while. I'll wait until the holiday season is over since it's a busy time of year and my plans never go smoothly.

@crashnburn80 have you tested the Osram Fog Breaker H11? I've seen them pop up on my searches from time to time and they seem like a decent yellow option. Osram's site claims 62w draw. I've seen them on eBay for about $35-$40 usually.

You guys could always send him one or two for testing purposes. Hint, hint.

Might have to do that... We'll see what he says about them first though.

I've not personally tried them. For yellow fogs I think it comes down to:
    Nokya hyper yellow - 2500k
    Osram Fog Breakers - 2600k
    Hella Xtreme yellow - 2900k

Osram claims increased output intensity while also using a filtered bulb. Maybe. That would require efficiency increases that supersede the filtration losses. The others do not and the lower the color temp the heavier the filters to make the light more yellow causing further reduced output intensity loss. I don't have good recommendations here without personal testing. Hellas bulbs with lighter filters should have better output than lower color temp filters, but maybe Osram can overcome that with a high efficiency based bulb. I wouldn't put much faith on it though and instead chose based on if you want richer yellow (lower color temp) or higher output (higher color temp).

Unfortunately I no longer have the 2nd Gen H11 fog assemblies to test these bulbs, so sending me a single bulb will not help.

Well, I do have a spare set of H11 fog lights. Maybe I'll have to get a meter after the holidays and conduct some testing to see how they perform per our other conversation. Just have to find a reliable place I can test them. I also have some Kapton film laying around that I had from a different project that didn't end up happening. So it would be interesting to see the effects of how much performance loss there is with the film as well.

I don't think they'll perform much better in the real world since halogens really don't have the same issues with reflecting off moisture like LED's or HID's so to me it's really more of a style choice. Maybe I'm wrong.

Agreed there isn't a big benefit going from halogen to selective yellow like there is going from LED 6000k fogs to selective yellow as the color temps are moderately close. At the same time, yellow filtration losses are minor on halogens because the color change isn't drastic and halogens have little blue light to filter out, so it likely wouldn't be too much of a loss either. If anything it might just slightly help your night vision by having yellower light in the foreground vs the halogen colored light when using the fogs.

    Crash,
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge on this and other threads…I’m trying to learn something. I ordered hella xtreme yellow h11s for my fogs to replace the h16s. I can’t get them into the fixture. Any advice or tips?? Thanks

You need to swap to the 16-19 TRD H11 wide-angle fog assemblies. The can often be found in the 3rd Gen market place section for reasonably cheap as people sell their OEM takeoffs for aftermarket units.
