If you run them in the factory housing you will have zero issues. Cutoff is factory === no blinding drivers.

I have been looking at bulbs, deciding which ones to go with.

I may go with these, since so many people are happy with them.

 

Exactly this, I did some research and figured if I keep the housing factory, it should be fine. Even small LED bulbs for interior lights say not street legal.

Unfortunately, there was only one set of the elusive Osram Hyper 85/80w 2400 lumen H4s. The rest are (next best) Osram Super Bright 100/90w 2900 lumen H4s.

I'm thankful to @smmarine for the good deal on all of them.

 

Yeah, glad to see they will be used. I only ever ended up using 1 set in my truck. The 100/90w bulbs are still going in my truck. They’ve got to be 2 yrs old now.

 

I have a 2009 access cab MT Tacoma, wondering if it is ground switched or conventional ? I am not able to go outside to look - and just ordered a "Premium Plus Headlamp Wiring Harness, Power Switched " and the wiring harness kit from Headlight Services. I'm wondering if I got the right harness?


Edit : Damn, I got the wiring harness kit thinking it was an instillation kit? Does everything you need come in the premium plus headlamp wiring harness 109$ kit ? I should email them and cancel the 69$ wiring kit?

 

The conventional harness should be sufficient for your 2009, unless you are Canadian with headlight high beam DRLs.

The harness comes with everything you need for plug and play. The kit is if you want to build your own with the listed supplied components. I’d recommend the fully built plug and play harness.

 

Do Canadian Tacomas have different DRLs? Or are you making a joke.. haha

 

They have different DRLs, as required by Canadian code.

Is your truck Canadian? Can you turn your headlights off entirely?

If they turn off entirely, purchase the conventional harness. If you have headlight DRL where the headlights do not turn off, contact Headlight Services, you will require a different harness.

 

Just to clarify, a Canadian Taco has the inner 2 yellow lights on when the vehicle is in a forward or reverse gear. The white headlights are entirely switch controlled.
Also the yellow lights aren't activated until the truck moves.

The DRLs I’m talking about for affecting the harness are those that run the headlights as DRL, not the amber lights. Amber light DRLs are conventionally switched.

 

Lol, my truck is Canadian, I been wondering how the hell people where turning off their DRLs.
