The ultimate headlight upgrade H4 (not LED or HID)

For anyone wondering if this works in the 1st gen double cab tundras, it does and so does the reverse light and there is a good HIR fog available. .

I was looking at your thread over on Tundras.com yesterday.
Since I picked up a 3rd Gen Tundra (2018) I've been trying to research this upgrade for it. Haven't found anyone who has done this on a 3rd Gen Tundra yet.
My Tundra came with the OEM LED Headlights, but I don't like them as much as my Tacoma's Headlights with this upgrade.

 

I don't know much about your truck but I would think that the positive switched harness would work just fine in your setup. One of those cheap $20 Amazone/ebay harnesses and any old h4 bulb would be a good way to try it out, That is, if you use h4 bulbs? Let us know what you find out.

 

Curious on others experience with the vendors when ordering this set up. I ordered the parts Dec 31st, and have not received any updates from either company (Power Bulbs or Headlight Services). I get the whole covid thing, and the holidays but I would have hoped for at least a confirmation.

 

Both are reputable and I'm sure the delay is because of the holiday. Shipping will be at the whim of USPS which is starting to improve from the holiday delays. I ordered from PowerBulbs and it took over a month to receive my order. Normally it doesn't take that long. Headlight Harness was a bit quicker.

 

I emailed the guy at Headlight Services on New Years day with a question and he responded quickly. I wasn't even expecting a response, much less on New Years day.

 

Thanks. I used PayPal for both, and have had past experiences with vendors not knowing they received the payment. I emailed them both since I never even received an order confirmation aside from the PayPal receipt. I guess I'm just so eager to complete the upgrade. Now that I understand what I'm in for with the upgrade, I feel a bit inferior everytime I switch on my lights.

 

It will be worth the wait. I upgraded my Tacoma about 3 months ago and just did my wife's Tacoma the other day. Wish I upgraded sooner. In the grand scheme of things, 2nd Gen OEM headlights are pretty good. This upgrade makes them amazing...

 

You were not kidding! Headlight Services already responded with an update and my harness will ship tomorrow. Now just waiting on a response on the bulbs.

 

Can someone tell me what's that wire coming out of the projector headlights??

 

My last powerbulb order was delivered in 5 days. At the time Powerbulb was out of stock on the Phillips +150 and went through ebay and it was 7 7 weeks.

 

I also placed an order with headlight services and powerbulbs on New Year’s Eve. Received a paypal receipt from HS and an order confirmation from PB the same day. On Monday I received a shipping confirmation from PB but I also paid for tracking since I ordered a couple of sets.

If it’s a bi-xenon projector, it’s the high beam signal wire that triggers the internal hinge to enable high beams

 

NP. The latest update was “leaving the UK” yesterday AM. Sounds like they were quick to get them out so it’s up to the mail service now.

 

Anybody getting "flashed" by oncoming drivers after doing this? I understand it doesn't affect the design of light throw and reflection out of the housing, but since the wattage is cranked up, I'm just curious if it is noticeable to others coming head-on.

 

Mine shipped 30 Nov it’s somewhere in the USPS system now.

 

I ordered today so we'll see how long it takes to ship, hopefully in the next few days. I'm off work through the end of next week so I have plenty of time to do this upgrade.

 

I initially ordered the racing bulbs from Powerbulbs on 12/13 and received them 12/31. Then I decided to upgrade the harness and ordered the Super Brights on 12/16 and those have not arrived. I expect them today actually.

As far as flashing. I installed the DD SS3 Pro fogs first and while I don't have the Super Bright bulbs yet, I have not been flashed with both the SS3's and racing bulbs in the headlights. I also installed new OEM housings, so everything is crystal clear.

 

So far, on both Tacomas, I've haven't been flashed. This is without adjusting the headlights.
