Yep, that is where I referenced a few pages back. Good convincing argument for replacing the 70w Osrams.

I haven't put them in yet. I need to finish the extra mounts on my slider install, and have a forward facing camera install still to do. Thinking of postponing a little to get the most out of the current bulbs till it gets a little darker and I start driving to work with my headlights on.

These are definitely not the first high wattage bulbs to be available on the market. But they are improved, compared to the Narva 100/90w (which is a respectable brand), the Osrams are 2900 lumens vs Narva 2600 lumens. Osrams are rated at 200 hours, Narva at 150 hours.

I'll provide temp measurements when I do the swap, but I'm certain it will be well below polycarbonates softening point.

Finally got around to updating the original post with a link for the Volsa +100 as a replacement to the discontinued Osram 70w, and also added part numbers and links for Pro-style OEM smoked lights for the early 2005-2011 trucks.

As long as you're not HID the swap should be pretty close to the same. High wattage bulbs in your fitment (if different than 2nd gens), harness & meter out your connections. It's pretty much a universal concept.

and if you are HID, I can't imagine why you think you need MORE light, you're already blinding half the drivers on the road, and it will just get worse when the plastic lens covers start to fog up in 5 years or so of UV exposure.

aren't the HID projectors still behind a plastic bubble lens ? I haven't looked too closely at the Tacoma version, my Taco is a 2008 with the traditional headlights, whihc quite frankly, seem way plenty bright after decades of driving 80s/90s european cars...

All I meant is there is no blinding people with HID's and projectors.

IF they are perfectly adjusted, and you're both going straight down a perfectly flat road, yeah. But when that lifted 4x4 is in the back window of my normal sized passenger car, I beg to differ. when that HID headlighted car is cresting a high spot, massive glare.

Well hell, any car at a crest is going to blind you... that is irreverent IMHO. All I am saying (sorry for not being so specific) is under normal conditions, with properly adjust headlights, with optimal weather patterns, and a good alignment with the planets, HID's in projects housing will not blind traffic.

Yes, though not written up as such. The 2nd gen H11 fogs are the same as the 3rd gen H11 headlights. You can use the same components here in your 3rd gen headlights. However if done as written, it will only upgrade your low beam. Benefit is total cost is under $100. You could order a custom harness that also supported the H9 high beam, in addition to the low beam.

H9 are brighter, but have shorter life. H11 are optimized for long life. H9 don't have the reflective cap/tip, so may have more glare in H11 fixtures that don't have an integral cap. the electrical connector is sligthly different, but you can trim the extra key off the H9 bulbs socket so the H11 plug will fit into it.

This is definitely something I can & will do to improve my lighting. I think my Tacoma's light output is OK now, but this should make it great.

I also have a 2008 Acura TSX that has useless fog lights. I actually had to get out of my car to see if they were on when I first bought the car last December. They are that bad. Didn't want to go the HID route; thought about LED replacements; but I like this far better than those two options!!!!! Will upgrade the Acura fog lights first, then upgrade the headlights of my 08 Tacoma.

Thanks crashnburn80! You are The Man!

Some factory fogs are just that awful, and almost decorative features. The fog upgrade will only make them 100% brighter not fix the beam, so if they are poorly designed with no beam pattern to begin with, it cannot fix the design flaw. While I cannot vouch for the TSX fogs, I can vouch that you will not be disappointed in the Tacoma headlight upgrade.

@crashnburn80 do you know if Rally sells the wiring harnesses in a "combo" that includes the H4 plugs as well as the H11 plugs for fog lights (2 gen)?

Any recommendations for what bulb will give the longest life at a higher than stock output? A 200hr bulb life might only last a month or two at most up here in the winter months when there is no sunlight.
