The Ultimate Insane Cross Country Road Trip

When we got back in the car... I had decided to change plans again...

I looked across the car and said... "Let's go see a Brennen"

Our son is stationed at Fort Carson Colorado (Colorado Springs) so we altered our course, yet again, and headed towards Colo Springs.

 

I called Brennen, not knowing exactly what he had going on.

He answered... I could tell he was just waking up. I asked him what he was doing. He said sleeping. I asked him if he was on leave or what. He said yes, and his plans to go to Missouri had fallen through.

So I told him, pack your shit, he's got 4 hours and we'll be there to pick him... he's going to CA! lol

That's epic road trip shit lol.

 

One of the first stops we made was Holly Colorado.

Pretty cool small town... and the have the first stone structure in Colorado's History. A barn




And the second stone structure. A house.




These are actually privately owned and occupied.

How friggen cool would it be to live in the first stone house built in Colorado State's history?

 

Later that day, we started to see some nice storm clouds on the horizon.

All the sudden our phones started going nuts.




So... ya, we kept an eye on the clouds and kept rollin.

 

We hammered down, drove through some storms in Pueblo and up in to Colorado Springs. Picked up the kid and headed to Ft Collins.

We hung out with my Cousins and stayed the night with them.

 

Day 5... First day we were pretty much stayed completely on Freeways. We were also dealing with weather the better part of the day.

At this point we're a day behind schedule.

 

Jen was going through the news and found this... we pretty much drove straight through that area.

 

Anyone want to know where their salt comes from?

 

Day 6

We're a day behind schedule, and trying return the retal car on time. So we didn't take the scenic route over Sonora Pass... we hit Donner instead.

 

Not a whole lot going on the last day. We saw some decent scenery on the way up and then down Donner, but nothing special.

And then we made it home...

And that's a wrap.

4400.1 miles in 9 days.
