I’ve killed three so far outside the building where I work, and there’s at least half a dozen dead ones including the ones I killed scattered around the sidewalk...

I’ve sucked a lot of bugs into my @HomerTaco grille over the last two years, but never any lantern flies!

To quote the term used by my supervisor (who also owns a tennis racket-like handheld bug zapper) to describe my Lanternfly culling spree during breaktimes at work over the last couple of weeks, I believe I have actually merc'd all of the little spotted bastards within the immediate radius of my work! At first I thought it was due to the rain and colder weather we've had, but today it is in the high sixties and I've only killed one! By comparison, I killed about 40 just outside the woods behind my house on Tuesday! So far, my record is 161 at work in a matter of a few hours, and about 80 at home over the span of maybe an hour and a half.

I believe I may have seen one on the side of one of the buildings across from Thompson BMW on Main Street in Doylestown (either Tom Adams Carpet or the ski/snowboard/winter sports place next door: I can't remember), as I was driving past maybe a week ago. However, other than that I have not seen any in Doylestown. The lack of confirmed squishes in Doylestown on the map in the SQUISHR app confirms this. My cousin and her husband live up in Luzerne County (Wilkes-Barre area) and have not seen any up there. My cousin's mom lives in Lehigh County, and her dog ate two them of them in rapid succession during a visit, only to barf them back up dead but whole about fifteen minutes later.

One confirmed squish at the Doylestown Airport; That’s it though...

I think a more likely scenario is that the Lanternflies are starting to go into hibernation (or whatever the hell it is they do) due to the changing weather. I was about to say “I seriously can’t find any”, but then one literally showed up at my feet as I was photographing this train near my work; I killed another two a couple minutes later.

Oh, and railfans of TW, here’s some “porn” for you...
