The manual in the JL is known to grenade and BBQ jeeps. Hopefully yours doesn’t, but it’s happened to several people. Stellantis, AFAIK, is considering it a user error, too.

If you have anything less than 4.10s in a JL, you’re doing it wrong.

A 5.7 Durango would destroy a 2GR-FKS off the line and all the way to 100mph as well. The 8HP70 trans is also probably one of the best automatic transmissions in the world.

My high school buddies dad owned early 2000s Dakota and Durango R/T with the 5.9. Holy shit those things were quick, especially the Dakota.

That was my view as well. However, not having a Tacoma really sucked. Thats why the second time around I got the 4 banger and just came to terms with the slow.

The beloved LS1 that everyone wants to drop in the taco is a “car” engine.

would it make you happier if people put the LQ engines in a tacoma?

Go drive something else with a 2gr engine. My 2014 is350 was worlds more refined, smooth rev'd freely and sounded fantastic. We got shafted somewhere. The engine itself is ok, the factory tune or cust cutting somewhere really messed it up IMO.

Just look at what lotus does with the 2gr.... checkout a modern evora review and know that the heart is essentially the same as a tacoma which is incredible

Truck engines are always de tuned for longevity, I’m not surprised at all.

OV tune really improved stock calibration. I’m running 94 E0 and it’s a beast.

Lexus isnt exactly known for unreliable engines. I'm not sure how much more dependability they were looking for
