Just wait until your ACIS shaft snaps off in your plenum, and the actuator door starves two or more of your cylinder intakes.

Been there, experienced that. I still don't have a warm and fuzzy for the V6 2GR-FKS.

Except they made 2x the torque at low rpm which actually matters unlike horsepower at 6000

LOL, my son and I have a 1995 F-150 4x4 with the 4.9 liter I6 engine and a 5MT; that thing only puts out 150 hp, but 260 lb-ft of torque (only five less than the 2GR-FKS) at lazy 2,000 RPMs.

Working at the Toyota dealer, I have replaced more jeep 3.6l engines than Toyota 3.5ls. They’re peppy engines. But man I hate Chrysler engines.

I suppose it’s too hard to turn your phone sideways and see I used to have a third gen and know how unsatisfying that engine is. The 3.6L I have now is not a monster, but it’s world class in low end power and fuel economy compared to a Tacoma on 33s.

Who is taking their Jeep to a Toyota dealer to get them worked on?

The 3.6L has been used for ages now and also would statistically have far more vehicles running into problems than the 3.5L in the Tacoma. That said, it’s considered by most outside of TW to be an exceptionally reliable power plant.. like the 4.0 in the 2nd Gens and T4R.

That makes all the difference. The 3.5 pretty much blows because it has no bottom end, it’s absolutely gutless. Give it some torque down low and it would be fine.

My bet is all of the vehicles come from the (now former) Chrysler, Dodge, Ram, Jeep owners who traded their rides in on a Toyota. :crapstorm:

Is Toyota including rust belt bulletins with window stickers now?

Are you somehow suggesting Toyotas rust out faster than Stellantis vehicles? If so you've been sorely misled.

I’m just pointing out that your belief that Toyotas have no problems is misled. I’ve driven by exactly zero CDJR dealers that had frames sitting outside for a giant recall on frame rot, though. Can’t say the same for Toyota.

It’s off point though. It’s a nice deflection about a another manufacturer’s engine when it’s widely accept that Toyota’s 3.5L isn’t it unless you modify it to the hills.

I for one don’t understand all the hate for the 3.5. It actually is kind of funny.
The drive train on the Tacoma is totally fine. It always gets me where I have to go and I for one have had no issues at all with it .
I did the TSB on the fuel pump ( truck had no issues but did anyway)
I did the 3 rd brake light re gasket ( it never leaked )
I did the reflash TSB for the tranny ( this too I just did to do it )
    It doesn’t leak oil
    And gets 19 MPG average
Brakes feel fine ( even with drum brakes )
No rattles or creaks to speak of
Could I have hit the lottery and been the only one ?

Your spoiled. Drive the compact 4x4 toyota pickup with the 3.0 v6 auto, thats what gutless is really like. This 3.5 is a rocket ship vs that engine.

Deflection? I just quoted your post.

Regarding rust, over the years my wife and I have owned 9 Chrysler vehicles and none of them could be called "rust free" when they were disposed of. The flip side is the 2009 Tacoma my son recently traded in on a new GR86 was literally rust free after 13 New England winters; did it have the frame replaced? Yes, free of charge; Toyota stood behind their product. Did Chrysler ever come to the rescue of any of our vehicles; the worst (from a rust perspective) of which was our Gen 4 minivan? Hell no.

Regarding engines; it is true the Pentastar 3.6 easily outperforms the 2GR-FKS, however, when looked at from the perspective of reliability, the Pentastar is woefully inadequate.

For sure, I’ve driven plenty of slower cars and trucks in my life. The 3.5 is still on the slow and gutless side of the scale though.

With only a 4500 rpm redline on that 300. I drove that combo in one form or another for 20 years. Ultra reliable for sure, i think even without oil you couldn't kill a 300 six, but they absolutely were dogs power wise. The 3.5 v6 runs rings around it.My Freightliner has over 1000flbs of torque at 1100 rpm and its slow as crap to drive empty or loaded cause its limited to 1600 rpm. My old trucks could rev to 2000, they would accelerate nicely.

no shit sherlock that would make sense why you have an account on TW. My mistake
And it ain’t the engine. It’s the trans and software tune behind it.
If that’s too hard for you to comprehend it makes sense why you’re in a Jeep now. “You wouldn’t get it, it’s a jeep thing”

Buddy…you still have a jeep. That 3.6 may make you happy now, but they’re problematic. I used to own one. Get ready for some of theeeee most random shit breaking down the road
