What do you mean? Applebees is a bit more greasier now than it used to be, but still better than burger King or McDonald's. Plus they have cocktail lunch specials lol!

Their 2.0T sounds oddly garbage compared to other inline-4 2.0Ts, though.

lol, where does this come from?

toyota's absolutely allowed to sell a diesel engine variant of any vehicle they want in america. they just need to follow specific rules that they choose not to...

not to mention, with the way diesel prices are, diesel never caught on as much as gasoline in america. even the jeep diesels don't see spectacular sales rates. so toyota not selling a diesel is more to do with market forces than 'government bans'...

Remember these old F-600 U-hauls? Many had 300 engines.

Yup, so too did the bus I rode to and from school, 5-Speed manual and all (although 1st was a granny gear and virtually never used).

Have you ever traveled to another country? Midsize diesel pickups are one of the most popular vehicles on the road every continent I’ve been. If a diesel variant was offered here I know I would take a hard look. Better low end torque, better fuel economy, better engine longevity with diesel. Not to mention more fun to drive!

The way diesel prices are is because of the US government charging taxes…it should be cheaper than gas, at least it is in other countries.

Manufacturers would sell RotoPax DEF tanks as accessories if midsize diesels were sold in the US.

Lol. My friend had a diesel Colorado for a few years and he said the def system was the worst. Between that and tranny issues he decided to go back to a Toyota.

Or GM motors. Then they went to Turbo diesel on International and Freightliner chasis until epa mandated DEF on diesels. I can't recall any diesel with a DEF being operated by UPS outside of a tractor. They switched to gas I can't recall but I think they went to Ford V10s. They might have switched to 7.3 V8s, if they have bought any new gas trucks since the discontinuation of the V10. I think UPS has been concentrating on CNG. Hybrid gas or diesel IDk, and of course battery electric, maybe hydrogen. I can't see EV ever being viable for there entire fleet of delivery cars. They will still need to be supplemented by gas, hydrogen, or CNG. I haven't kept up with what they are running or plan to run in the future.

I don't see a Diesel option offering from TOYOTA for the US in our future. If one was offered, the price of diesel, the price of the engine (a real diesel) option, and maintenance would discourage most folk.

Unless you want a Hino diesel truck Toyota isn't doing anything diesel in the US. Toyota doesn't even want to associate the Hino name with the Toyota brand right now, not while Hino has their Trust Restoration Project campaign going.

Not that TRP is a hot topic, or anyone cares that Hino fudged emissions numbers on diesel engines. Nobody really gave a shit when VW did. People don't associate Hino with Toyota in the first place, but they aren't going to bring any unnecessary attention to that, buy talking about diesel.

There were a few folks that complained about VW, mainly the gov. who saw it as Grand-slam to score millions in fines like they did with TOYOTA issues years back. Never mind that nothing was ever proven in that case. But ever wonder what happens to all that fine money? Is not like they give it to the victims lol!

However, If a few folks are complaining now with the 3.5l not being able to run like a BMW off the stop light, I can only imagine the complaints we’d hear from those folk if a diesel engine was an option in our trucks.
Oh the noise, oh the vibration, oh the smell, I can’t find fuel.

Pretty sure the list would be longer than both my arms

i definitely think you're in the minority on this one. i'm aware of other countries diesel usage, but we can't just ignore the states fuel taxation rate, availability, or DEF requirements. they all have a major negative impact on diesel motor usage that overall makes diesel a much less desirable option to the majority of purchasers.
