You know any public land good for shooting around here or do you mainly just go to preset ranges?

 

Not really any public land to shoot on around here just some indoor and outdoor ranges. There is a couple of gun clubs in temple, waco, and I believe in copperas cove.

I usually goto Hicksville in gatesville it’s a outdoor family owned range with pretty relaxed rules. You can draw from concealment on paper and steel pistol range. 25,50, and 100 paper rifle range, 200 yard steel silloute with a 10in swinging plate. Shotgun range has skeet and a archery range as well.

What's up fellas/bellas. Just found this thread and thought I'd make an intro. Been back in the area for little under 2 years now. Was stationed here before, ended up coming back after getting out of the Army as my wife is from Centerville and we have a house in Killeen.

While we're at it, anyone know of a good OUTDOOR shooting range. Been wanting to go since I came back to TX, but last job kinda made it difficult; over 80hrs a week. Now working a more "normal" schedule so have some time to go. Sorry if it's been discussed before, just didn't have the patience to flip through hundreds of pages; I'm sure y'all can relate.

 

Welcome back, I frequent Hicksville in gatesville there is another one called “in the chamber” I been wanting to goto also temple gun club is a nice setup been there a couple of times.

 

Cool, thanks Matt. Too bad there's not one any closer than that. I used to go to one in Florence, can't remember the name but a buddy told me they've since closed down. Any experience with Mountain Creek in Killeen? Their website says their outdoor range is down for maintenance a/o 21MAY, but may be worth checking out.

 

Sure thing, I took my ltc class there it was a decent facility indoor range wise I didn’t check out the outdoor part I avoid Killeen if possible. Kempner or copperas cove has a gun club I believe as well but no experience with it.

Oh nice, I'll have to check that one in Kempner out. I know what you mean about avoiding Killeen, I hate going into town for anything anymore.
